Copyright (c) 1996 by Mark Nettle Grappling Parry (Special) Roll vs. Unarmed Combat skill. Cannot be improved. This enables you to grapple a limb if you successully parry an attack to the upper half of the body. To do so, you must make the parry by an amount equal to the penalty to hit that limb (eg 2 for a leg, 4 for a hand), and then roll a contest between your Unarmed combat skill, and the opponents DX, Karate, Brawling or Kicking (if approriate). If you win, you have grappled the attacker's limb. See Leg Grapple, Arm Lock, Finger Lock, and Crushing (below) for examples of what to do then. If a style does not specifically include this manauver, you are at -4 to attempt it. Crushing (Hard) Defaults to ST-5. Prerequisite: Brawling. This is an attempt to crush a part of someone's body using brute strength. You must first have grappled them by the part which you wish to crush. Roll a Quick Contest (Crushing vs ST or HT). If you win, you inflict one point of damage for each point by which you won the contest. You cannot inflict pain only, and DR and Toughness protect normally. This is just not as scientific as Arm Lock. On the other hand, it is much easier to damage someone's hand or foot than their torso; the defender is at -2 in the contest if you are crushing a hand or foot, and -1 if you are crushing an arm or leg. You get +2 to contest if you use both hands.
