Copyright (c) 1996 by X-port LC=5 S/M This power allows one to turn into something (usually an energy form) that allows quick movement. In operation it usually works like a straight line teleport with visible effects and a typically non-psionic special effect. The range and duration are as per normal except that the charecter in essence becomes the beam. The user may turn into this energy form and move in a straight line for up to the duration in power before having to reform. The default allows passage thru almost anything and the user makes a targeting roll to hit the desired location. Bonuses for hitting a object or wall (size mods) only apply if that object can stop your energy mode which is defined when the power is bought. The charecter must remain in motion but may if make skill roll accurately switch back on target. You may target a location blind based on just targeting a specific point by range as in saying you want to travel 100y. No penalties for not seeing such a target apply, though of course when you arrive who knows whats there. Another mode of travel with this power is to travel on piggyback carriers. Examples would be light thru fiberoptic cable or electricity thru a wire. THis gives you very accurate targeting as long as the wire goes where you want to. Skill rolls thru switch boxes are approriate and typically one roll per duration is made with cumulative penalties as estimated by the GM. Also note that though energy is the most common use of this power it can be used for anything the charecter may transform into that might have a high rate of speed and limited control. A wave or bolt of water, stone missile, bullet, meteor, etc. The charecter may carry themselves and up to power squared in pounds. Numerous enhancements and limitations may apply as well as linked powers and some are described below. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Enhancements and Limitations of special note. Affects Others +40% To turn someone else into this energy form and they reform when duration expires where you targeted them. This would require two rolls. Increased Duration, Increased Acc, the usual Instant and such are obvious. Continuing form +50%; This allows the charecter to continue in this mode without having to reform between durations and does not apply to the affects others unless perhaps your traveling with them and the GM specifically aggrees. Ricochet +20%; This allows you to bounce off a wall or appropriate object and change direction. Use skill penalties for full distance with an additional -1 for accuracy in landing on target. Ability to Maneuver +10% (compare Hyperflight) Limited Perception while transformed -30% (compare Hyperflight) No obvious effect to make your energy mode inobvious except to appropriate senses. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Associated powers Hyperflight may be bought for it or with the link enhancement for it and Super Flight. The effect is 1c* power level at the basic Hyperflight level for 50 points. The 75 point level allows 1 light year per day of sustained X-port travel per day per level of X-port. Superflight may be linked to this ability and it allows *2 per level just as it modifies flight. Watch that the limitations are still meaningful.
