Which exercises work which parts of the body, what parts need to be worked on a certain body, frequency of work outs, reps, correct hugh protein diet, the right food supplements etc etc When a character attempts to increase his ST through body building (whether his own or through an instucter at a gym) a skill role is made once at the beginning af the ST increase attempt, the other at the culmination. The purpose of this is to acertain how many character points the ST increase will cost the player. When using only an instructer, the value rolled against is the average of the instructers Body Building and Teaching skills rounded down. The result on the table is then halved (unless you are learning from a 1 on 1 personal trainer). On the table below y is the cost of charcter points for the ST increase (eg ST 13 to 14 would be 30 points) Initial Roll Culmination roll Cost of ST Increase --------------------------------------------------------- Succ Succ y - 5 Fail Succ (or vice versa) y - 2 Fail Fail y A critical failure at the initial roll indicates an injury. You cannot work out for 20 - Health weeks (minimum 1) A crit fail at culmination indicates full cost of ST increase +5, due to bad training techniques. A crit success at any roll halves the cost otherwise indicated. Note that in no circumstance can the amount of CPs required go below y divided by 2. It is also suggested that a Will roll be made. If this is failed, no increase in ST is possible. A critical failure may indicate retrogression in some way, maybe Overweight for a short time..... GMs should note that the cost of staying with a Body Building regime can be extremely high. Gyms fees, the best foods, supplements, instructers (if required) can all add up. Feel free to charge what you deem reasonable for your campaign. In our time frame on Earth, Body Builders can spend anythong from $200 - $1000 a month. and an associated disadvantage: Compulsive Gym Jock -5 points You cannot get by without a "session" at the gym at least once a day. You willdrop almost anything to get your fix. If you are unable to get to gym on any particular day, you will start to become very irritable. A home gym and some weights will keep you going for a few days...but its just not the same. If you are deprived totally of equipment for more than two days you will aquire the Bad Temper disadvantage (or become even worse if you already have such problems...) until you get to a well stocked gym. Note this can become a real problem when an injury is sustained....
