Date: Tue, 05 May 1998 22:00:05 +0200 From: Rasmus Juul Wagner Subject: archive fodder, yumyum Explosives! (M/H, cinematic). This is the cinematic skill of handling explosives. It has several uses: 1. It can substitute for engineering (explosives), demolitions, underwater demolitions, EOD, chemistry (explosives), and any other explosives-related skill. 2. You always know how powerful an explosion is going to be. You can tell people where they will need to take cover, and so on. This is particualrly useful when shooting at barrels of gas. 3. You can blow it any way you like. On a succesful skill roll, you can place incredibly accurate demolition charges, and otherwise limit the collateral damage to the absolute minimum. Toss a grenade through the hatch and drive the tank away. 4. Fantastic timing. Your explosion occurs when you want it, when it would be most convenient. If you mine a bridge, it will explode just before your pursuers reach theother side. If you toss a hand grenade down a stairwell, it explodes where it will do the most damage to your enemies. If you set a timed charge, you always know exactly when it's gonna blow. If you have some sort of sequenced remote control, you can keep track of it (see Goldeneye for examples). 5. Amazing safety explosions. You can rig explosions that will knock people out without seriously hurting them. 6. On a successfull skill roll, you will make it to the bomb and disarm it in time. However, there is a drawback. Once you start working on it, you cannot leave it unless somebody else is working to disarm it. And your attempt to defuse it will not work before there's only a few seconds left. 7. You can quickly improvise explosives from common household remedies or anything else your GM will allow. These explosives will be very effective and completely reliable. 8. Connesouir knowledge. By tasting or smelling an explosive, you can identify it, and make a qualified guess on it's origin.
