MORPH (30?) 25 Points The race is able to assume the form of any non-moving object. The object that is being imitated must be physically present (although magical scrying or an illusion may be sufficient at GM's discretion.) Mass does not change, although the morph can still take the appearance of a smaller or larger object by increasing or decreasing it's body density. The morph gains the physical appearance of the object being duplicated, but does not gain the internal structure of the object. The morph retains all skills and abilities while morphed, and it's attributes remain unchanged. It takes one full turn for morphing to finish, and the same amount of time to change back to it's original form. Any external objects attached or covering the object can be mimicked (if allowed by GM), but cannot be removed from the morph's body. ---====--- ---====--- ---====--- ---====--- Morph Control is a (M/VH) skill that defaults to IQ-6. It enables the morphing creature to alter it's visage from the form that it is currently mimicking. All morphs start out with the default, and may put points into upgrading their skill. ---====--- ---====--- ---====--- ---====--- Enhancements 1. Can Mimic Moving Objects +55% The morph can accurately duplicate objects that have moving parts, such as a clock or a bicycle. Morph does NOT have the ability to throw or "shoot" bits of itself: Ie forming a gun that actually shoots bullets. The morph does not actually form different parts, such as wheels, but only has the appearance of different parts. The morph cannot generate electricity by morphing into an engine, for example. 2. Can Mimic Lifeforms +15% Morph has the ability to mimic living or once living objects (trees, dogs, people, shrubbery, grass, birds, etc.) If the lifeform has "clothing", the morph can duplicate the clothing but cannot remove it (it is a part of the morph's body.) 3. Can Alter Density to add to DR +30% ** Cost is only +15% when taken with Can Control Morph Shape ** The morph has the ability to concentrate it's body density to increase it's DR. First, the morph has to make a Morph Control roll, then if the roll succeeds: by up to 4 DR +1 5 - 7 DR +2 8 + DR +3 Critical Success: DR +5 Note: this is above and beyond the morphs natural DR. Failure of the Morph Control roll DECREASES DR of the morph, or causes it to lose hit points equal to the -DR. failure by up to 2 DR -1 3 - 4 DR -3 5 - 6 DR -5 7 - 8 DR -7 8 DR -8 9 DR -9 Critical Failure: Total loss of natural DR for 1d+3 rounds and morph takes 1d+5 points of damage. Ie: Bubby has DR:2 and fails his Morph Control skill by 5 His DR is reduced to 0 and he takes 3 points of damage. 4. Can Control Morph shape +30% The Morph alter his present "form" by using it's Morph Control skill. Altering DR is a separate enhancement which is cheaper when taken in conjunction with this enhancement. The Morph has the ability to create pocket areas in it's body, to elongate fingers and change general facial features. This enhancement does NOT give the morph the CHAMELEON racial advantage, Ie: where a morph is mimicking the queen of England cannot alter it's surface features to pass unnoticed in front of a checkerboard painting. 5. Can Remember Forms +25% The Morph can remember up to IQ number of forms, be they animal, vegetable, or mineral. 6. Can Remember Additional Forms 4 points for each "form" The morph race is especially well suited to changing it's shape and can remember many more forms. 7. Can mimic the sounds of the object being mimicked +25% Cost reduced to 0% if the MIMICRY advantage is also chosen. This is essentially a half-powered version of the MIMICRY advantage. The Morph can imitate the sounds made by the form currently being mimicked. LIMITATIONS ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8. Uncontrollable -30% / -40% -30% The morph tends to change shape in a crisis - whether it wants to or not! Whenever you are under stress (GM's decision, but a phobia situation is ALWAYS stressful) you must make a will roll to avoid morphing into another shape (whether it's a remembered one or not.) Remember that a will roll of 14+ ALWAYS FAILS. If you fail the roll, you may roll -vs- your Morph Control skill MINUS the amount you failed your Will roll, plus an additional -4. If you succeed, you may choose which form you morph into. If you critically fail, the GM can hose you any way he wants... maybe you grow an arm out of your face to shake the hands of the mugger that just leapt out of the shadows to rob you... -40% If you fail your Will roll, the GM decides what happens next and you are stunned for 1d minutes. You get no Morph Control roll at all. 9. Revert to normal form (time based) Varies You can only retain a morphed shape for so long before you have to revert to your natural state for a time equal to the time morphed. over one hour -5% 30 to 59 minutes -10% 21 to 20 minutes -15% 11 to 20 minutes -20% 5 to 10 minutes -25% 2 to 4 minutes -30% 1 minute or less -40% 10. Can only remember fewer forms -4 point per "slot" lost The morphing race isn't particularly well deposed to morphing, and thus has a lower number of morphing forms that they can memorize. 11. Can't accurately mimic "attached objects or covering" -5% You can mimic clothing, but it will appear as if you put too much starch into your clothes and will feel "funny" to touch. 12. Under continual conscious control -25% The morph must make a Will roll: - Every minute - Whenever a wound is taken, minus damage received. - After a Fright Check (even if it succeeded) - Whenever the morph is surprised - In essence, any time that a normal Will roll is required in a situation, or a situation comes up that would "startle" the character. if the Will roll fails, the morph reverts to his normal form unless he makes a Morph Control roll - 4 (or any modifier's to Will, whichever modifier is worse), where he can retain that form. if the Will roll Critically Fails, the morph automatically reverts to it's natural form. 13. Can only mimic a certain type of object -25 / -50% The morphing race has specialized it's morphing ability to the point that it can only morph into certain objects. -25% Can only mimic a class of objects: any trees, cars, humans, cats, birds, fish, whales any rocks -50% Can only mimic a certain type of a class: a maple tree, a 30ish white male, a Siamese cat, granite. 14. Triggered by fear or excitement -15% Anytime that a "Fear" type spell is cast on the morph, any time a Fight Check is failed, or if some sort of "crisis" arises, the morph will change form into a randomly picked (by GM) form or will mimic randomly something that is within visual range. 15. Must touch object being duplicated -10% In order to mimic an object, the object being mimicked must be physically touched by the morph to "analyze" the object. 16. Must maintain contact with mimicked object -40% The morph must maintain constant contact with the object being morphed or else it will revert to it's natural state. Races with this limitation cannot also take the limitations: Reduced Forms Remembered, or Must Touch Object Being Duplicated. These are already added into the cost of this limitation. 17. Limited Use Varies The morph can only change shapes a certain number of times a day, then it is unavailable for a 24 hour rest period (or whatever the GM deems realistic.) The value of this limitation depends on the number of uses per day allowed: Once per day -40% Twice per day -30% Three or Four Times a Day -20% Five or Six Times a Day -10% More than Six does not constitute a significant limitation NOTE: every hour (or fraction thereof) of "morphing" is equal to one use. (FROM GURPS: PSIONICS by David Pulver) 19. Unreliable Varies Every time that you wish to morph, you must roll versus your Morph Activation Number (see below) to attempt to morph. If you roll your number, you may proceed normally with your morphing. If you fail, you may try again with cumulative cost of 1 fatigue point. MORPH ACTIVATION NUMBER: 5 -70% 8 -30% 11 -20% 14 -10% (FROM GURPS: PSIONICS by David Pulver) 20. Untrainable - -10% / -20% / -45% The morphing race can't raise Morph Control above IQ, IQ-2 or IQ-4 21. Usable Only At Certain Times Varies The morph can only morph during certain times. It is up to the GM to come up with proper phases for this limitation, but here are a few examples: LU: During the full moon -20% LU: During the day/night -5 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some things I am kicking around: Enhancement / Limitations : - The morph actually becomes the object being copied. (internal organs) - The morph gains the natural abilities of the object being mimicked. The way I see the MORPH advantage in reguard to these now is that a morph that changes into a bird, for example, can only fly if it has the FLIGHT (bird type) (defaults to Another Bird Type -2) and is also a familiarity issue (sparrow vs any othe small bird) like guns. The morph changes it's internal structure (I don't see a morphing race that has a "skeleton", but is much like "Odo" from DS9) in a way that if it DOES have a skeleton, it forms it's skeleton into a shell just under the skin, so that there is bone underneath most of the surface skin (harder to break a nose!). And to forsee the "Odo" (am I spelling it right?) issue, imagine a mass of liked cells. There are "brain" cells, and there are "energy" cells, and there are other cells. A shot to the head will still result in a "brain" shot, shooting the morph in the eyes will damage the "eye" cells, and shoving a hot poker into the ear canal of the morph will damage it's "hearing" cells... A kick to the groin? Hmm... Shoot for the heart? Hmm...
