Groarch Half-Ogre Copyright (c) 1996 by Wim ten Brink <101471.2512@compuserve.com> Groarch Half-Ogre is a male Half-Ogre in a TL3 setting. Basic stats for a halfogre are (ST:16, DX:9, IQ:7, HT:12). I've modified this: ST-1, DX+3, IQ-1, HT-1. Total cost: 45 (Race) + 0 (Attributes) = 45 CP. Groarch is stupid since his IQ is reduced to 6! But I give him: +5 language talent, cost 10 CP +5 musical ability, cost 5 CP +5 Strong will, cost 20 CP +2 Eiditic Memory (Photographic memory), cost 60 CP Literacy, cost 10 points Groarch will cost 150 CP now, so I give him about 40 CP worth of disadvantages and 5 quirks. (Berserk, Greed and overconfidence.) I also give Groarch the following skills: Skill Lvl Cost Type Running 8 0.5 P/H Animal Handling 16 6.0 M/H Riding 13 Def P/A Teamster 16 2.0 M/A Veterinary 20 2.5 M/H Bagpipes 13 4.0 M/VH Singing 17 2.0 P/E Two-handed Axe/Mace 13 4.0 P/A Armoury/TL 20 7.5 M/A Common 12 1.0 M/A Ogrish 11 Def M/E Orcish 11 Def M/A Brawling 12 Def P/E Diagnosis/TL 20 2.0 M/H First Aid/TL 20 Def M/E Physician/TL 20 8.0 M/H Surgery/TL 20 5.0 M/VH {Def means Default.} Groarch's background is simple. When he was young, he was raised by a human doctor/physician. This man loved to travel and loved music. He taught Groarch some of his skills and discovered that Groarch was a great student. His teacher died and now Groarch wanders around on his own. Questions: Is this a legal character for a realistic fantasy campain? Is this a legal character for a cinematic fantasy campain? Do I have to pay extra CP for unusual background? Why do I want to know this? I want to compare the opinion of different players and gamemasters about stupid races with perfect memories and very big bonusses on a few skills. I'm interested as a game-master who wants to create a world where a several characters of dumb races (Ogre, Half-Ogre, Minotaur ect.) have some high mental skills (Like Physician, Strategy, Merchant, Teaching, ect) and it's a lot cheaper to give them Eiditic memory than to raise their IQ and buy these skills normally. (The rules normally accept these kind of characters.) I'm interested as a player-character because I like the idea of using a dumb Half-Ogre who has some mental skills better than anyone else, without losing (a lot of) his fighting abilities.
