He is entirely unique and began as an experiment in historical roleplaying - a use of the best property of GURPS (well, one of them) - the Universal aspect. The game was structured about 'Incarnations'. Each incarnation lasted a set number of years, after which the character would gain 40 points. Each incarnation was shorter than the last, (starting at about 400 or so years for the first and decreasing by 10 years each time till they were a minimum of 10 years long). The difficult thing was trying to keep track of 40 points every incarnation over 75 incarnations, so that, when the character was finally 'completed' he could be played at any period in his history with an accurate record of exactly what it was that he could do. But enough of the game structure... Rashad al-Amman was born in a small village called Amman outside Jericho at about 6200 BC. He grew up and like most everyone else at the time, he died. But unlike anyone else at the time - he came back. As a 100 point character in Jericho... His father Abdin, was the elder of a small village known as Amman not far from Jericho, when Jericho itself was little more than a town with a wall. Abdin was a large man and his eldest and larger son Mahmud was much favoured by the head of the family. Rashad was bright and eager to learn, but his smaller frame seemed less impressive, and as he was younger, he suffered some slight neglect at his fathers hands. Mahmud proved to be a great spearman and pugilist (although brawler would be more accurate a term). Rashad, however, would live on long after his brother was dead. Hunting was a favorite passtime amongst the family. Abdin would sometimes take his sons on a hunt (after they were old enough) and even more rarely praised Rashads aim with the bow. They were a simple people, enjoying their simple pleasures in a simple time. Rashad was exposed to many skills throughout his early life, as that was how things were back then. Later people were to become known by what they did. Whole families names would arise based on one ancestors profession. The Smiths are so numerous today, because of the universal need in European countries for a village Blacksmith. At the time of Rashads life, one was known by ones place of birth. Everyone did a little of everything back then. There were those who were better at one thing and made their living out of it, but to start with, everyone had to see what they were good at, and help with the things everyone had to do, like hunting and farming. Rashad wasn't outstanding in anything, but he had a ready smile, and a personable nature that won over most who met him. And he wasn't outstandingly bad at anything either. As the days passed into years Rashad became a man. He was noble of bearing, of comely appearance, and when the plague hit Amman, one of the only survivors. Mahmud died within days, as did their mother. Abdin never really forgave Rashad for surviving. The refugees of the plague made their way towards Jericho. It was Rashad who convinced the people there they had no plague, and they were welcomed. In the next year, Abdin died. Rashad married a young woman from Jericho called Salana and they had three healthy children. Two sons and a daughter. He was a caring father, devoted to his family and to the farm. Occaisionally he would go hunting with some of his friends. Then there were the gatherings where they would tell stories, sing, dance, and gaze at the stars. The people of Jericho often looked to Rashad for advice, as time wore on and his sons grew almost before his eyes. Then came the greatest change in Rashads short life. He died. Normally that would spell the end of a story such as this one. But Rashad was not one to let death stop him from living. Rashad had passed into a state that was to become known as Vampirism. And now - here's Rashad al-Amman at 2272 AD. Unlike the 100 pointer above, I cannot list the entire list of skills here. There are people paying by the byte!
