Two years ago, she was a simple medical technician. A patient undergoing brainsurgery was a psi. The surgery didn't destroy the patient's abilities but made them SCREAM (as in a 'global' Psi Static Power level 25 style scream). Jen came up with a major headache, no one else in the hospital was affected. It woke up her latent psi powers. The scream alerted agents of the Phoenix Project, The Overmind Institute and ESP, not surprising since the scream covered a 20 mile radius centered in Anaheim, California. In due course their investigations led to discovery of the screamer. Overmind got to him first, and a very capable psi vampire on the Institute team named Thomas Brett detected Jen's newly awoken powers. However, before he could arrange anything, ESP arrived, and having the advantage of being a law enforcement agency, was able to get the man in their possession. Even as ESP agents arrested the screamer on some trumped up charges and flew him out on a medical evac helicopter to a Psibercorp facility, Brett was working up an angle to bring this new discovery to his employers in a most profitable manner. It was Brett's hard luck that late arriving members of the Phoenix Project spotted him leaving and recognized him. A precog on the Project Team got an image of Brett returning with a badge and arresting some lady who worked there. Four days later, he did, coming in as a DEA agent with an arrest warrant for Jen. The Project people were ready for him. As he took Jen to his car, a gestalt of Project telepaths broke past his defenses. In due course they learned what he was up to, learned he hadn't reported his discovery of Jen's abilities to anybody, yet, picked up all kinds of neat things about the local branch of the Overmind Institute, and the scam he pulled to grab Jen. In short order, he was mindwiped of all knowledge concerning Jen, and Jen's coworkers and the hospital security staff soon acquired partial amnesia regarding her arrest a few moments earlier. Jen had her life back, and an invitation to develop the powers she had. She has spent most of her spare time since then mastering her abilities. Jen isn't quite ready for field work, needing some basic combat skills as well as stealth. Power wise, she looks to be a Jill of many trades. A couple of Project evaluators call her "UltraLady" since her powers to seem to resemble a low grade comic book heroine. She can fly (levitation) around 60 mph, deflect low damage attacks (PK Shield - PD 1/DR 7 vs physical damage, Energy Shield - DR 5 vs Energy damage), see through walls (Clairvoyance), hear conversations a quarter of a football field away (Clairaudience), generate lightning bolts (that stem from an electrical source like a lightbulb or wall socket, not more characteristically from her fingertips, (Electrodirection - yes, it's called 'lightning' in the book, but differs enough from Super and Magical 'lightning' to merit the alternate name), Cloud men's minds (Confusion) etc. Jen has mixed feelings about working with the Project. She's learned enough about Overmind, ESP, Psibercorps, and the Human Alliance to know Psis won't be left in peace in her lifetime, and someone needs to defend them. But she doesn't buy into the Project's benevolent world mind ideal. She has doubts about a world mind and it's members retaining free will and their individuality, and knows power does corrupt. Such a shared mind might start out with the best intentions but... Equipment: light kevlar body suit, prescription ski goggles, jacket and pants worn over the kevlar.
