Here is a character I ran as an NPC - I haven't had a chance to actually play for quite some time. He is a hunter of evil, specializing in Vampires, occultists, perverts, and non-catholics of most varieties. He is very, very good at what he does, though he is also a bigot and a puritanical prig, prone to break up pagan covens with napalm. He is also exactly the sort of character I would want to run in a Vampire game, though I doubt the other characters would appreciate his presence much. I would also like to note that I would never play him as a PC - he is far, far too munchkinny. I felt the great load of disadvantages was only proper to reflect his twisted, black-and-white outlook on life, and as the GM, I could break the 40-point limit if I wanted to. :-) Sir Francis Jacob Dearborn Skills: AK (Britain) 1 13 ST: 12 Fatigue: AK (Europe) 2 14 DX: 16 Thrust: 1d-1 Driving (car) 1 15 IQ: 13 Swing: 1d+2 Guns (pistol) (Rifle-4) 4 21 HT: 11 Hits: Fast Draw 1/2 16 Speed-load 1/2 15 Basic Speed: 6.75 Move: 6 Guns (rifle) 32 24 Speed-load 1/2 15 Encumberance: Move Dodge 8 Guns (SMG) (Rifle-4) 4 21 None (0) = 24 7 Fast Draw 1/2 16 Lite (1) = 48 6 Speed-load 1/2 15 Med (2) = 72 5 First Aid 2 14 Hvy (3) = 144 4 PD: 2 Intimidation 6 15 XHvy (4) = 240 3 DR: 7 Knife 1/2 15 Naturalist 14 18 Age: 56 years Occultism 4 14 Bloodlust Riding (Horse) 1 15 Code of Honor: Inquisitor Shadowing 4 14 Enemy: Occultists, <9 Stealth 2 16 Fanaticism Surv - Forest (Nat-3) 0 15 No sense of humor Surv - Mtns (Nat-3) 0 15 Paranoia Swimming 1 16 Intolerance: ANYTHING untoward Theology (Catholicism) 1 16 Rep: Occultists, -4, <7 Throwing (grenade) 1 16 Rupophobia (severe!) Francis spent most of his life trying to prove himself, even lying about his age and enlisting in the Royal Marines at the age of 17. He withstood the training, mostly through sheer force of will, and quickly became a master rifleman, but was discharged shortly after completing basic training when his true age was discovered. When he found out Francis had lied, even for such an admirable end, his father was forced by duty to cut him loose and order him never to return. After a few bitter years in odd jobs, Francis traveled to Rome, and found his true calling among the Jesuits. The Inquisition was not dead, simply operating in silence, and Inquisitors were needed to scour out evil, decadence, and corruption wherever it might lie. Though he never became a priest, Francis took to the regimented life with a fanatical drive that made a deep impression on everyone around him. There was nothing he liked better than to kill in the name of the Lord, rooting out nests of the Undead, godless pagans, and those who questioned the wisdom of the Lord's own servants most of all. At the time he was introduced into the campaign, Sir Francis (he had been knighted some decades ago for services to the Crown, but never thought much of his temporal title) was humorless, murderous, and utterly intolerant, and ruthlessly used the player characters for his own ends. They counted themselves rather lucky he never had enough reason to set his sights on them; his Inquisitor's code would not let him. A few notes: True Faith is an advantage from GURPS Vampire: The Masquerade. The advantage allows a player to affect Vampires and other malign beings with the holy symbols of their religion, their great faith basically driving the Vampire back. The skills section also includes three Incompetencies at the end; Incompetence was introduced in GURPS Robin Hood, I believe. With an incompetency, the character can never learn the skill, and is at -4 on the default; Sir Francis is incompetent in Diplomacy and Savoir Faire for reasons that should be obvious, and in Computer operation because he hates computers!
