Jeff Riddle, a relatively minor junk bond dealer who managed to stay just within the law while making a fair sized fortune. The marriage lasted 4 years. Riddle was caught with another woman. The divorce settlement was favorable to her. Beamon put the money into her own business. She designed a prototype flying battlesuit, a bulky, clumsy model with a lot of firepower and fair flight range. The Navy bought two of them, before budget cuts ended that program. Her next design was built for police and security firms. Mansized, using a less rigid armor nearly as good as light body armor capable of providing an air tight seal while enabling hydraulic exoskeletal muscles function in much the way organic muscles function while encased in flesh, and a scaled down version of the battlesuit's thrusters capable of flying a human weight for up to 4 hours. Equipped with an advanced rebreather unit, a police officer could withstand small arms fire and move through tear gas without being affected, while providing flight in excess of traffic speeds. In short, anti-riot gear. Beamon got a marketing idea. She made a version of the suit that she could use. Better sales demonstration if the CEO can safely use the suit. Her suit was customized, hydraulic muscles made to simulate natural ones, giving her suit the appearance of an attractive woman when worn. The main performances of stuns would be done by professionals, but she'd do some as well. Beamon industries was located in warehouse/factory sitting among a series of such buildings, all adjacent to a railroad. They were just about getting ready for their first demonstration when one of the neighboring warehouses across the tracks had a disaster. An aircompressor exploded. Heavy equipment toppled and pinned two workers. Worse, a fire started on the other side of the explosion, and it was spreading. Beamon came to the back of the building to see what the commotion was. When she realized two men were trapped under wreckage, she ran to get into her suit. In short time, her amplified muscles had freed the trapped workers, beating the spreading fire by seconds. The publicity was very good for Beamon Industries. Several fire departments as well as police agencies have bought suits. Most suits aren't at full capacity (either bought as base equipment- no points - or as minor superpowered gadgets - base equipment with limited powers). But the Detroit police department's SWAT team has a complement of 7 state of the art suits. It worked so well, that Beamon is convinced she needs to be a superheroine to keep the business afloat. At first, she hired several qualified people (ex-police and military) to do the actual heroics. She'd tag along both as technical expert on the suits and handle public relations, and generally keep out of the line of fire and stay out of the way. The team started out as a variety of battlesuited crimefighters, but genuine metahumans soon joined in and various other personel changes took place as time passed. "Ultrasec" became known as a reasonably competent superteam. One other change took place: Beamon came to realize that this was the sort of work she wanted to do. "Making the world a better place" had been a major motive in her subconscious. Whether making a safer jetline or better equipped soldiers/police, the fact she was helping people by her work gave her pleasure. Stopping criminals and rescuing people really made her realize this. She's seriously considering running for public office, figuring she could probably do a better job at policy making than simple villain bashing. Ultrasec recently relocated to the Gulf area. Beamon stayed behind rather than lay off her employees and relocate her buisness. The parting was amicable. She's looking to find some new heroes. During her hero career, she's come across gadgets captured by villains, and has learned how to build or adapt some of them. Her Jade Jet suit is now equipped with a force field. At present, it only protects her from damage that occurs from a high speed collision, and then only if it hits her head and shoulders. In practice, it permits her to dive bomb foes. It does not protect her from most attacks to her head. It basically protects her from her own velocity impact damage, and little else, the microchips governing the field projection having little ability to calculate and adjust for other factors, such as a punch aimed at the top of her head. Unless dealing with situations where side effect uses of this power (SU p.7) come into play (ie There is no difference between her hitting the broadside of a barn at 80 hexes/turn and the broadside of a barn flying at her head while moving at 80 hexes a turn), this invulnerability gives no protection vs other kinetic attacks. Most recently, she's duplicated an energy pistol used by thugs employed by the supervillain group known as the Awful Alliance, and added it to her arsenal. The Alliance has had several bad run-ins with Beamon and/or her old group and every so often they try to deal with her. Age: 33 Height: 5'4" Weight: 123 lbs. Brown Hair & Eyes.
