Add: Security Clearance 2+ Optional Disadvantage: Hidebound (-5 points). Replace Sailor and Seaman with one appropriate Craft, Scientific, or Military skill at IQ+2. (Yes, this means that technical ratings have to use their "default" skill in Seamanship and Sailor skills!) Submariner ("Bubbleheads") (U.S. Navy, TL6-7)* As Technical Rating. Add one appropriate Craft, Scientific, or Military skill at IQ+2. (4 pt). Add Sailor (Submarines) IQ+3 and Seamanship (Submarines) at DX+1. These skills default to Sailor (Surface Ships) and Seamanship (Surface Ships) at -2. Aviation Rating ("Brownshoes") (U.S. Navy, TL6-7) Identical to Technical Rating, but add Aviation (Naval) IQ+1. Construction Battalion ("SeaBee") (U.S. Navy, TL6-7) Remove Seamanship and Sailor skills, add Guns (Assult Rifle) DX+1, Gunner (Machine Gun) DX, Tactics (Infantry) IQ, Driver (Construction Equipment) DX, Professional Skill (Construction Worker) IQ+2. ========================================================================= Naval Officers Naval Officers need to have at least one Academic, Language, or Social Skill (like Merchant or Administration) at IQ+1 in order to be commissioned (the equivalent of a BA or BS degree). Electronics, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Accounting, and Admini stration skills are preferred. Naval Officers must have at least one Academic (Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology, Chemistry, Physics, Oceanography, Meteorology, or Marine Biology) or Social Skill (either Administration, Merchant or Accounting) at IQ+2 (the equivale nt of a Masters Degree) to be commissioned as Rank 5 or higher. Flag officers (Rank 6+) must attend an intensive command training school before they can be promoted. This accounts for the wide range of non-military skills that a flag officer has. Note that a competent "normal" military officer should be built on at least 35 points, exclusive of the Rank advantage.
