JUSTICAR "I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked". [Ecclesiastes 3.17] "For true and righteous are His judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand". [Revelation 19.2] Once, there was a Heaven for the reward of the good, and a Hell for the punishment of the wicked. But things have changed now, and the Justicars believe that if God's plan is to be continued, then Angels must reward and punish humanity here on Earth, according to their deserts. It is sometimes believed that Justicars are strictly obedient of Earthly laws. Nothing could be further from the truth. They do not recognize the authority of mortal law over them, but rather, see themselves as the policers of mortal police. REQUIRED ADVANTAGES: Eidetic Memory (-30 pts). REQUIRED DISADVANTAGES: Code of Honour (Dignity at all times and revenge oneself for any indignity inflicted upon one - an affront to you is an affront to Justice after all!) CELESTIAL JUSTICAR Being judge, jury and executioner rolled into one, the appearance of a Celestial Justicar is very good news for anyone the Angel considers to be righteous, but very bad news for anyone the Angel considers to be wicked. Celestial Justicars tend to possess one of two demeanors. The first is stern and stoical, soberly dispensing reward and punishment with as much gravity as possible. The second sort has a dual personality. To the good, they are smiling, friendly creatures of love and light, while to the wicked, they are angry, terrifying beings. Stereo-types Apocalypt: Presumptuous. We received no new orders from God, so rather than play God by making up our own orders, we should proceed with the function we were given. Bachae: They do not mean to be evil, but they are enemies of all justice. Bring joy to the wicked indeed! Bhoddidsatva: Do they think God's creation so flawed that they seek to leave it? They insult the Almighty. Children of the Crucible: Compassionate without being unjust. They are excellent Angels and loyal servants of God. Fury: The Bachae are unjust merely because they are misguided. The Furies are unjust because they are Infernal, every last one. How dare any such creatures pretend to be Angels? Infernal Justicar: They have a depth of understanding that allows them to perfect their evil. Nothing could be worse than these creatures. Lamenter: The work they do with the deserving earns them honour, but all too often they waste their tears on the unworthy. Narcissite: When their loyalty came to the test, they showed their true colours. Foul abominations. Mammonite: Their priorities are bizarre. What does it benefit a man to gain the whole world if he loses his own soul? Muse: Achievement without moral rectitude is empty. They have forgotten to distinguish good from evil. Reaper: When they choose their targets carefully, they are a powerful force for good. Unfortunately, they don't always choose their targets carefully. Tiamatic: Freedom is a reward for those who show that they can use it responsibly. INFERNAL JUSTICAR Infernal Justicars simply seek to subvert the old paradigm. In other words, they spend their energies in order to reward the wicked, and punish the virtuous. They are unlike most Infernals in three main regards. Firstly, they tend to be extraordinarily trustworthy. As long as you remain pure in your wickedness, they will not forsake their task of trying to make your life as wonderful as possible. Secondly, they do not believe that everyone is corruptible. Some people are just going to be good nomatter what you do to them. This is fine by these Infernals, because without an underclass of good people, there can be no evil elite. Thirdly, they conflict with each other more than most groups of Infernals. Such conflict inevitably stems from one patronized human attempting to perform a damaging act against another patronized human. The patron of the first human will want to encourage their human's evil, whereas the patron of the second will want to ensure their human's well- being. Ideally, most of them would like to see all evil people co- operating to ride roughshod over all good people, but this does not seem to be a very realistic goal. Stereo-types Apocalypt: Nothingness isn't good or evil, so what business is it of Angels? Bachae: Yeah! Teach the humans about putting pleasure above everything else! Bhoddidsatva: They are just Apocalypts who don't have the guts to face what they are. Children of the Crucible: That's cheating! Humans have free will and that mustn't be interfered with. Even their Infernals are cheating. Fury: Indiscriminately, mindlessly, violent. They have no class at all! Celestial Justicar: They are the real enemy, for they alone still truly follow God's path. Lamenter: Their suffering is self-inflicted. I have no sympathy for them and hold them in contempt. Mammonite: Humans become so attached to "stuff". It is the perfect tool for affecting them. Muse: You can't just abandon the mass of humanity for the sake of dealing with the talented few! Narcissite: Spineless degenerates who have forgotten who they are. Reaper: No, no, no! They have it backwards! They should be scything at the humble, not the great! Tiamatic: To abdicate your responsibility in this way is just to deny the distinction between Angels and Humans. Angels administrate.
