PH-Laser Weapons (Phased Hyperpulse Lasers) TL10 Each 'Shot' actually consists of several dozen hyperpulses, greatly enhancing penetration (DR is only at 1/2 normal). Phased means that an inbuilt sensor- computer package determines the composition of the target and adjusts beam frequency to be harmonic with that of the target, causing living cells as well as inanimate matter to be disrupted (Phased hyperpulse weapons do impaling damage, but any damage which gets through armor is tripled rather than doubled). PH-Lasers are the main reason that X-ray lasers are impractical to build at TL10, as they have less shots and do less damage as well. The main drawbacks of PH-Lasers are the same as for normal lasers; rain, fog and reflec armor blocks PH-Lasers as well as it would normal ones. Game Stats: TL8 : Laser Weapons TL10: PH-Laser Weapons (build as TL10 Lasers and add $1000 for the mods and the sensor-computer-package; only Hv.Pistols and Rifles may be built this way, LC is always one point lower than normal). Optional, you may rule that a PH- Laser is slightly heavier (about .5lbs.) than a normal one. TL12: PH-Xaser Weapons become possible (build as TL12 Xasers and modify as for TL10 PH-Lasers - yes, that 'does' mean DR protects at only 1/4 normal). NOTE: While each shot consists of several dozen hyperpulses, the actual RoF is the same as for normal lasers; each set of hyperpulses counts as one shot. However, this still means that your trusty Hv. PH-Laser Pistol does a maximum of (3d+1)*4 = 12d+4 (2) damage, with any damage that gets through being tripled.
