    Laserlink (TL8)
      This device combines a laser communicator with 200 miles range, a medium
    communicator boosted to orbital range, a personal computer (C2) running
    computer navigation, datalink, C2 encryption and word processor software,
    all powered from a C-cell for a year of normal operations. The display and
    keyboard can be detached on a short and sturdy cable to set the remainder
    of the laserlink onto a tiny tripod for wobble-free transmissions. A
    laserlink is 15 lbs. and $8,100.
