Copyright (c) 1996 by "Dr Kromm" The Silver Sword of Saint Allannon Saint Allannon was one of the first holy Megalan warrior-monks of the Templar order on Yrth. He was a man of unparalleled purity and virtue, famous both for his defense of The Faith and his defense of the common people. His notable deeds included a victory over a savage Orc advance that had penetrated as far as Quartadec, as well as several triumphs in personal combat against both Demonkind and the Undead. Supposedly awarded to Allannon by God Himself, the Silver Sword is indisputably a weapon of unyrthly origin. It is forged from a metal which superficially resembles silver, but which is clearly a hundred times stronger than the finest steel! Though it radiates no magic at all, it is clearly a potent mystical tool of great Holy power, possessing several powers useful for dealing with supernatural threats. POWERS: * The Sword is a thrusting broadsword crafted from an unyrthly silver metal that is capable of holding an extraordinary edge. It should be treated as a blade of "superfine" quality, gaining a +3 bonus to damage and being effectively unbreakable. Note that neither effect is due to sorcery -- the blade carries neither the Puissance nor the Shatterproof enchantment! * The Sword lets the wielder cast the following spells at level 16, exactly as if he or she were a mage, and grants a wielder who already possesses these spells a +4 bonus when casting them: - Banish - Exorcism - Pentagram (must be used to trace pattern) - Remove Curse - Turn Zombie *The Sword should be treated as "armour piercing" against Demons, Undead and creatures of enchantment (Elementals, Golems . . .), halving the DR of any such creature struck by it. Furthermore, the Sword may use all of its powers upon and inflicts full damage upon such creatures even if they have desolidified, assumed mist form, have insubstantial bodies or would not normally be affected by weapons! *The Sword glows with white fire when any supernatural creature with hostile intent is within striking range of the wielder. DRAWBACKS: * If grasped and wielded by anyone who is neither Blessed nor Very Blessed by the Christian God, the Sword inflicts (16 - HT) dice of damage upon the wielder, doubled against Undead and other supernatural beings. In any event, none of the special powers will function for such a wielder, though the Sword retains its sharpness. * A Christian wielder must make a Will roll every turn in any conflict where hostile supernatural foes are present on the field of battle. Failure means the wielder charges and savagely attacks the nearest such foe as if On The Edge (i.e. -- no care for personal safety, an IQ roll every turn to avoid taking an All-Out Attack or other dangerous and aggressive option).
