Typeren Warg Slayer (made using rules from "Willful Weapons" by Ken and Jo Walton, Pyramid Magazine, Issue Number 14.) Copyright (c) 1996 by Christian Walker. Decades ago Typeren was forged by the Elves at Riwalin Spire. It was one of their first weapons and easily one of their best. Its blade holds a powerful, complex Rune of Sharpness known only to Elves. Shortly after its forging the blade acquired a dark reputation. The first Elf to wield the blade was a young Elven warrior, Typeren of the Tangryne Spire. He owned the blade only a few weeks before the Spire was assaulted by a ravenous pack of Wargs. This attack came in the days when no Silent Vale sheep flocks satiated Warg hunger. Many Elves died in the attack, but in the midst of the fray was brave Typeren. He fought like no Elf has ever fought in history, perhaps like no Elf ever will. He slayed several Wargs, fighting fiercely to defend his people, but in the end he was slain and ripped to pieces. In his final moments the power and intensity of his purpose impressed itself on the blade. The blade was found by the maiden Raenthrea, who has kept it ever since. She named the blade Typeren Warg Slayer and has watched it consume one wielder after another. The blade has an intense desire to kill Wargs. It only allows itself to be drawn by those it thinks are up to the task. Once it chooses a wielder death is only a matter of time. It seems the blade is a magnet for Wargs as it croons to them on moonlit nights. If the wielder is slain the blade always return to Raenthrea one way or another. There is wild speculation as to the cause of this, but only Raenthrea knows the truth: Typeren's spirit guides the blade to her. Knowing the history of the blade, she is sad each time a new wielder takes hold of it. She consoles herself with the thought that the Elves need defenders any way they can get them. Typeren Warg Slayer: Will-11 (-1); Power: Extra Damage 1 pt. (+15), Calls to Wargs up to three miles (-8); Quirks: "That's Typeren on your hip?! I can't believe you are still alive, but I guess its not for long." (-1), Wails when Wargs are within one mile. (-1); Great Gesa: Must slay Wargs (-20); Lesser Gesa: Can only be used by those friendly to Elves (-10). Total: 26 point disadvantage. Should be more considering that Wargs travel in packs and are mean as all hell!
