Date: Mon, 25 Jan 1999 15:57:41 -0800 From: michael_smith@mfi.com (Michael Smith) Subject: Another New Spell Here's a useful spell for those mage's with Absent-Mindedness: Homeseeker Regular Homeseeker ensures that any item the spell is applied to will, in the event it is lost or stolen, eventually find it's way back to the mage who cast it (or designated recipient if not the mage). This is not automatic, and typically can take anywhere from 1 week to 6 months to find its way back to the mage (GM rolls 1d6 to determine length in months and modifies it by a number of weeks equal to the amount the casting was made by). The item will end up, by a series of lucky coincidences and improbable (but not impossible) happenings, back in the possession of the mage. Thus if bandits raid the mages' caravan, any stolen items will eventually end up crossing the mage's path (although he may end up having to buy them back unless he can prove they were stolen). Any items that are destroyed are, of course, lost forever, but nothing short of destruction or a dispel magic cast on the item will prevent coincidence from reuniting the mage with lost goods. Duration: Permanent (until item returns to owner) Cost: 3 Time to Cast: 1 second Prerequisite: none
