Fantasy Beers Copyright (c) 1996 by Ken Lipka Fire Beer - while some unscrupulous tavern owners would have you think that this drink is made on/from the Elemental Plane of Fire, it is actually nothing more than obscure Gnomish ale that started life as a practical joke. The primary ingredients (at least those different from other beers) are a combination of cinamin and hot peppers. Definitely an acquired taste and one of the few beers that needs a water chaser. Jagerbeir - this is a dark, bitter Dwarven brew. Since most dwarves live underground, it is rather hard to grow things likes hops and barley. Therefore, this race made do with what DOES grow underground. This black beer is made of fermented fungus and cabbage - over ten varieties of each. A favorite of dwarves, it is currently making in-roads with humans, as a cough medicine. Old One-Eye - actually this beer doesn't exist as an individual per se. Rather, this name is used to describe the generic, cheap beers that nearly every single dive of a tavern serves. It is usually made from buying one cask of a good beer, and then diluting it into several casks by the generous additions of water and the cheap wine usually called "Rot Gut". The best that can be said is that this beer will keep you going all night. (This is not normally a compliment.) Perth Pink - an extremely heavy beer that should only be used for hand-to-hand combat. This is not an ale for drinking; it is an ale for laying down and avoiding. Tiefling Iced Tea (while not actually a beer, it is a drink from my current campaign) - this drink is currently only made and served in the Black Sails Tavern in the Lower Ward of Sigil. It is served in a Baatorian Green Steel mug as that is the only thing that can hold this brew without dissolving. It consists of seven diffeerent layers of alcohol - one from each of the Lower Planes (Acheron, Baator, Gehenna, The Gray Waste, Pandemonium, The Abyss, Carceri).
