Subject: 3D character planner

alrighty, this is the character planner i was blathering about. each
section has a bunch of questions, the answers to which should help to form
a solid picture of the character being designed. it starts with a physical
description, and then goes to the social description. the psychological
description is last, because some of those questions will be based on some
of the social stuff. of course, some questions will be answered by other
questions, and some skipping around is bound to happen. this is good,
though, and often leads to follow-up questions that only serve to make it
more thorough.

if you use this exclusively for game characters, the social description
could have some questions added to cover skills more. as it is, though,
education level, social activities and hobbies provide some ideas for
background skills.

3D CHARACTER PLANNER:

NAME:

PHYSICAL STATISTICS:

1) What sex is the character?
2) How old is the character?
3) What are the character's height and weight?
4) What are the character's hair and eye colour? Are they distinctive in
any way?
5) Describe the character's complexion, and skin tone.
6) How strong is the character? What kind of strength is it (brawn,
toughness, etc.)?
7) Is the character agile? If so, in what way (manual dexterity, quick
reactions, coordination, fast runner, etc.)?
8) Describe the character's health, fitness, and stamina.
9) Is the character attractive or unattractive, and to what degree? What is
the nature of the appearance (boyish, rugged, delicate, grotesque, etc.)?
10) How does the character dress?
11) Does the character have any other significant or noteworthy physical
features?

SOCIAL DESCRIPTION:

1) What is the character's nationality, ethnicity or race?
2) Describe the character's social status, caste or rank. How is it important?
3) What is the character's martial and sexual status?
4) Does the character have an occupation, job or career? If so, describe it.
5) What is the extent and quality of the character's education?
6) Describe the character's home life and history. What impact has it had?
7) Describe the character's social activities. Is the character an
introvert, or extrovert?
8) Describe the character's hobbies and personal activities.
9) What is the character's political outlook? What is the extent of its
impact on the character's life and actions?
10) Describe the character's religious beliefs, if any. What is the extent
of their impact on the character's life and actions?
11) Does the character have any noteworthy friends, allies, partners,
enemies, rivals, superiors, inferiors, family members, lovers, etc.? If so,
who are they?

PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE:

1) Describe the character's intelligence (analytical, savvy, cunning, etc.).
2) Is the character observant, or obtuse? Explain how.
3) Does the character possess self-control? To what degree?
4) What things does the character like (or love)?
5) What does the character dislike (or hate)?
6) Is the character afraid of anything? If so, what, and to what degree? Why?
7) What are the character's goals and ambitions?
8) What is the character's temperament? Coolness under fire?
9) Describe the character's morals.
10) Describe the character's attitude(s) about imporant things.
11) Does the character have any prejudices? Why? Describe them.
