BACHAE


    "There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and 
    drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour.  
    This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God".

    "I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and 
    to do good in his life.
    And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of 
    all his labour, it is the gift of God".  [Ecclesiastes  3.12-13]

  The Bachae exist to bring pleasure to humanity.  The joy of humans 
makes them happy, and only the joy of humans makes them happy.

REQUIRED ADVANTAGES:  Charisma +4 (-20 pts), Handsome or Beautiful (-15 
pts).
REQUIRED DISADVANTAGES:  "Indulging" an Addict, Compulsive Carouser or 
Lecher.  Indulging means that the Angel arranges a "fix" for the subject 
and then remains with them throughout it.  Cost is the same as for the 
disadvantage indulged.

CELESTIAL BACHAE
  The Celestial Bachae just wants people to enjoy themselves.  The 
absence of human enjoyment depresses them, while its presence makes them 
high.  They are convinced that life should be one big party to which 
everyone is invited.  They are further convinced that this is obtainable 
if only humanity wants it.  Celestial Bachae do not deny that shit 
happens, or even that shit must happen.  They do believe that the best 
way to deal with shit is to have a good time despite it.

Stereo-Types
Apocalypt:  What a waste!  Before you euthanise the patient, its only 
sensible to do everything you can to try to cure the disease!
Infernal Bachae:  We are there to serve and bring joy to humans, not 
vice versa!  What our brothers do is abominable.  They sully the good 
name of pleasure!
Bhoddidsatva:  Hm.  Pleasure or nothing?  I'll take pleasure thanks.
Children of the Crucible:  They claim to respect humans, but they treat 
them as a means, instead of as an end.  I make things better for humans, 
not humans better for things!
Fury:  God was about love and forgiveness, not torment.
Justicar:  Doing good things to the good and doing bad things to the bad 
isn't goodness.  Goodness is about doing good things period.
Lamenter:  Their work and ours are two halves of a whole, only they got 
the hard half.  No-one is more deserving of respect.
Narcissite:  Forgetting that we are here to serve humanity is bad 
enough, but to decide that you are God...  Their arrogance is beyond 
belief.
Mammonite:  There is something to be said for them.  It is hard to enjoy 
yourself when you are hungry.  On the other hand, material possessions 
do not happiness make.  In fact, their pursuit can be a distraction!
Muse:  Achievement can be enjoyable, but so can some quiet relaxation.  
It is a mistake to become so obsessed with means that you forget ends.
Reaper:  Yeees, fair distribution is important.  But why do Reapers so 
often seem to be kill-joys?
Tiamatic:  Good on them.  Its hard to be happy when you aren't free.

INFERNAL BACHAE
  Infernal Bachae are no less obsessed with human pleasure than their 
Celestial brethren.  Where they differ is that the Infernal Bachae is 
much more concerned with the intensity of pleasure felt than with a 
general distribution of pleasure.  They are liable to choose certain 
mortals as the focus of their vicarious enjoyment, and concentrate on 
bringing them to the greatest possible heights of ecstasy.  Concern for 
others gets in the way of the pursuit of pleasure, so such protgs will 
be discouraged from considering other people's feelings.  If a human can 
get their kicks by hurting someone else, the Infernal Bachae would wish 
them to go for it.  Concern for the future can also interfere with the 
pursuit of pleasure.  After all, the reason that we don't all shoot up 
heroin is that we know what such activities will lead to.  Thus, the 
Bachae's human subjects are often self-destructive in their pursuits.  
This varies though, with the Bachae attempting to safeguard the human 
for as long as they are interesting, and then discard them or use them 
as a toy for some other human to enjoy.  Bachae don't care what pain 
their actions involve - if the path with the greatest rewards is also 
the path with the greatest suffering, so be it.

Stereo-Types
Apocalypt:  No thanks.  I'm having too much fun.
Celestial Bachae:  You can't party if you can't let yourself go!  These 
guys don't know what they are missing.  Too bad.
Bhoddidsatva:  They choose to be dead?  Fine - that's how I like them.  
Anyway, when we wrestle them for a human soul, we always win.  I don't 
know why they still bother trying...
Children of the Crucible:  Make humans better?  Better for who?  I make 
mine better for me.  Since I am the highest remaining form of life, its 
the only thing that makes sense.
Fury:  We feast on human pleasure, they feast on human pain.  We and 
they are two sides of the same coin.  We are brothers.
Justicar:  They well understand the relative status of Angels and 
humans.  The only thing that bothers us about them is that they don't 
seem to enjoy their work.
Lamenter:  Can an Angel's self-respect be so low that they allow a human 
to dictate their emotions?  The ultimate whining wimps.
Narcissite:  They don't get it, do they?  God died.  Angels survived.  
What does that say about which it is better to be?  Enjoy what you are - 
its good!
Mammonite:  Toys can be a lot of fun - as long as you keep in mind that 
that is what toys are for.  All to often, people get so wrapped up in 
the pursuit of stuff that they forget to enjoy it!
Muse:  Terrific.  They usually have the humans doing something 
interesting!  They really know how to make the Sons of Adam jump.
Reaper:  Jealous bastards!  Just because some people can't enjoy 
themselves doesn't mean that no-one else should!
Tiamatics:  Chaos!  I love it!  When the shepherds have run away, its 
time for the wolves to feed on the sheep!
