FURY "And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me; Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat. And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcasses upon the carcasses of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you". [Leviticus 26.27-30] "The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels... And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever; and they have no rest day nor night...". [Revelation 14.10-11] Furies believe that the disappearance of God reveals his abandonment of his creation to damnation. Humanity was tested, and failed. Now they must suffer the wrath of their creator. REQUIRED ADVANTAGES: High Pain Threshold (+10), Claws (+15), Strong Will + 3 (+12). REQUIRED DISADVANTAGES: Sadism (-15). CELESTIAL FURIES There is no rage like the rage of Angels. Stern, aloof and unrelenting, the Celestial Furies ensure that humans are "cast down into the pit". This pit is not some other dimension, but rather whatever unfortunate condition the Celestial Fury can place the human in. The Celestial Fury does not see it as their duty to directly hurt humanity (although they can certainly cut humans down if humans stand in their way). Rather, they deliver them into dreadful situations. For instance, although no Celestial Fury will personally infect a person with AIDS, a Celestial Fury is, in fact, responsible for the creation of the Aids virus. Similarly, the recession is a product of their intercession. They co-operate with their Infernal counterparts in a way unparalleled by other Angels, seeing it as a performance of their holy duty to deliver a human into the clutches of Infernal Furies to be tormented in a more direct fashion. Stereo-types Apocalypts: They are an effective and essential part of damnation. They are wrong, though, in thinking that its all over. Its only just started. Bachae: Drunken with sin! Now the God has forsaken the world, they turn their back on their duty. Bhoddidsatva: They seek to help humanity escape their appointed fate, but the grasp of God is not that easy to slip out of. Children of the Crucible: They did their best, and deserve our respect for that, but now they must realize that their time has come and gone. Humanity failed them, and there are no second chances. Infernal Furies: The world is to be theirs. Since it is God's will, so be it. Justicar: They seek to play God! Judgment has already been made by the only one fit to judge. Lamenter: One may pity, yet punish also. They must learn to accept God's judgment whether they find it appealing or not. Narcissite: They build little Hells. For this reason, we tolerate their arrogance in thinking them new Heavens. Mammonite: They have found a new God, but it cannot stand against the armies of the True God. Muse: Pointless. Creation is finished. Reaper: Solid Angels who are unrelenting in their fine work. Tiamatic: There is no such thing as chaos. Anarchy just means that different sorts of people get a turn of being in control. INFERNAL FURIES Infernal Furies live to torture humans, and they do it very, very well. Unlike most other Infernals, they actually think that they are acting in accordance with the last will of God. They believe that this last will was that humanity should be damned and thrown to the Devils. Sometimes they pretend to be mortals and torment humans in that guise, but sometimes they reveal their true demonic nature prior to the blood- letting. Infernal Furies are sadists supreme who love their work. However, their work does not always involve producing as much blood as quickly as possible. They can be quite restrained and artistic, and many delight in inflicting ingenious emotional torment upon their prey. Stereo-types Apocalypts: I love them, I love them, I love them. Fortunately, they can't succeed, but its fun to watch them try! Bachae: I can think of nothing more disgusting. Smash them! Bhoddidsatva: I am more frightened of them than of any other Choir. Their "escape route" is probably fictional, but it just might be real... Children of the Crucible: The horse has bolted boys. Either ride it with us or get trampled underfoot. Celestial Furies: They are no different to us. If they like to think they are, then let them. Justicar: They have the right idea, but they must be serious in their judgments and admit that no-one is without guilt. Lamenter: The best audience. Narcissite: They steal center-stage from the mortals, who are much more interesting performers. Mammonite: Economic power is power like any other, and can be used to great effect. Muse: Without hope, hopes could not be dashed. Reaper: Hilarious. They do what we do, but "for humanity's own good"! Tiamatic: Chaos is a mask over our order.
