TIAMATIC "God is Dead". [Friedrich Nietzsche. Also Spracht Zarathustra]. The Ruler of the Universe is dead, and the Tiamatics think that it is time for his ex-subjects to be free. They don't necessarily believe that it is a good thing that God died, or that He wasn't fit to rule. They just believe that since He is gone, there is no longer any authority for most of the old rules, and so they no longer apply. REQUIRED ADVANTAGES: None. REQUIRED DISADVANTAGES: None. CELESTIAL TIAMATICS Angelic Tiamatics seek to set humanity free. Unlike most Angels, they do not see their chosen path as a duty, but simply a choice that they have made. Because they care for humanity's well-being, they want humanity to be free, and so they are going to free them. Obviously, their insistence that the rules have changed since God's departure does not always endear them to other Celestials. Stereo-types Apocalypt: They understand that a change in circumstances requires that you adapt or die. But why on earth did they choose to die? Bachae: They help people to escape from rules by showing them their own nature. Bhoddidsatva: They have found an unusual path to freedom, but a path to freedom never the less. Children of the Crucible: They would rather train humanity in obedience than pursue their welfare. Fury: These creatures of hate must be stopped. Justicar: The ultimate rules-worshipers. They can't see the wood for the trees. Lamenter: They genuinely care for humanity. Even though they have a tendency to focus on only the most pathetic cases, they have my deepest respect. Mammonite: Money is a tool that is as useful as it is dangerous. Money can free people to do what they desire, but it can also encourage people to bind themselves in the proverbial "chains of gold" as they weigh themselves down with possessions. Muse: They care for only a fraction of humanity, but they do free the human spirit. Narcissite: How dare they? No-one is good enough to become the new God! We just have to learn to get along without one. Reaper: They could do so much good if they restricted their attentions to petty dictators, but they hate anyone who spreads their wings. Infernal Tiamatic: I find their attitude towards God offensive and their reasoning twisted. I usually find their actions invaluable. INFERNAL TIAMATICS Delighted by the departure of the Almighty, the Infernal Tiamatics see the crushing of all order as being the best way to insult His memory. They see God as one who brought order out of chaos by organizing the universe, and so, to mock Him, they attempt to unleash chaos once again. They do not wish humans to obey any rules, especially moral and religious imperatives. They claim that they themselves do not follow any rules either, doing what they do out of pure instinct. Stereo-types Apocalypt: If you destroy the universe, you only insult its creator once. If you pervert it, the insult can last forever. Bachae: Excellent. Free your mind. Bhoddidsatva: You don't gain freedom by imprisoning yourself and then crying "look, the world doesn't imprison me!". Children of the Crucible: Without the strength of God to back them up, their entreaties to virtue are empty. Fury: How can so-called "Infernal Furies" call themselves "Infernal"? Surely the punishment of the wicked is just what God wanted, and what kind of demon does what God wants? Justicar: If they were effective, they would be disturbing. But as it is, the guilty still prosper and the innocent still suffer. Lamenter: Rebels one and all. God included suffering in his grand design and they want to take it out again. Weird, but interesting. Narcissite: We waited billions of years to get rid of the first God - what the hell do we want with another one? Besides, being in "official power" is just being the top rat in the trap. Mammonite: Financial security and order go hand in hand. Cash is just the carrot of the old carrot-and-stick technique of ruling people. Muse: The thesis behind art is that old creations are never good enough. They must constantly be changed. A fine sentiment. Reaper: They cull anyone who breaks away from the pack, just because they don't have the courage to do it themselves. Celestial Tiamatic: They do what we do out of a love for humanity instead of a hatred for God. That's as good a reason as any.
