TL3+1-Dragon-Egg

In an alternate history a chinese emperor seeing the explosive power of the first gunpowder rockets demanded that this power be applied to enable his troops to jump over the walls of his enemy's fortifications.

An elite soldier sits in the Dragon Egg rocket and then is blasted off.  Thirty seconds after liftoff the egg reaches it's apex at over a mile and a half and then a silk parachute (invented centuries before its time) deploys to gently lower the craft behind enemy lines.
