Budget Spotter Plane v0.2 (TL 08)

        This ultralight aircraft was build as cheap military observation plane.
    Being mil-spec from the drawing boards, the sensors and hardpoints are not
    just clumsy additions.
        The airframe is quite ordinary, with a kevlar shell. The power plant is
    a turbosupercharged ceramic engine of a high-end commerical design. Sensors
    are a small thermograph (nominal range 1.34 miles), light amplification and
    a camera. The controls include head-up instrument displays and a bombsight.
    The plane is 'armed' with a laser designator and two hardpoints (e.g. for
    100-lbs. bombs, 40mm rocket packs or machine gun pods). The multiband radio
    is encrypted, but the transponder is just a commerical model.
        The plane is a TL08 vehicle [July 96 errata sheet].

    Structure:  80 cf cheap light body (HT 125), maximum load 1 ton, fair
        streamlining, three unpowered wheels (DR 2, HT 7/14) with off-road
        suspension, STOL wings with canards (HT 63).
    Propulsion:  60 KW airscrew.
    Power:  60 KW ceramic turbo/supercharged engine (DR 5, HT 12) with 6
        gallons diesel (self-sealing, DR 5, HT 6, fire on 6) for 6h 40 minutes.
    Accomodations:  Two normal seats, many windows.
    Crew Requirements:  Pilot, possibly an observer.
    Armor:  24 points expensive armor, F2/3, B2/3, R2/3, L2/3, T2/3, U2/3,
        RW2/3, LW2/3.
    Cargo:  None, but 4.2 cf access space could be used.
    Accessories:  Environmental controls, radar locator, cheap short-range
        thermograph (scan 15, DR 3, HT 2, electronics), light amplification,
        two HUDWACs, optical bomb sight, laser designator, autopilot, mini-
        camera, GPS, secure multiband radio with transponder.
    Weaponry:  Two hardpoints.

    Statistics:  Cost $20,000, design mass 0.6 tons, maximum payload 0.4 tons,
        maximum hardpoint load 0.4 tons, current payload 0.3 tons, loaded mass
        0.9 tons, size modifier +2, radar signature +3, IR signature +3,
        acoustic signature +5 (+6 on the ground).

    Ground Performance:  Speed factor 22, top speed 88 mph (reduced to stall
        speed), acceleration 6 mph/s, deceleration 10 mph/s, MR 0.5, SR 2.
    Water Performance:  None.
    Air Performance (without hardpoint load):  Speed factor 36, stall speed
        37.5 mph, top speed 144 mph, acceleration 8 mph/s, deceleration 15
        mph/s, MR 4.75, SR 5, ceiling 5,760 yards, gets 160 mpg.

    Rocket Pod: 8.4 cf cheap ejectable pod (DR 5, HT 25) with seven 40mm rocket
