Strategic Transport Aircraft v1.0 (TL 08)

        This large jet fills the niche currently occupied by the C-7 Galaxy or
    the C-17A Globemaster: It carries equipment up to and including MBTs to the
    trouble-spots of the world.
        For infantry transport, the aircraft can carry 240 soldiers (a company
    or two) in the payload bay - dumping the seats doubles the cargo rating. It
    can make trans-oceanic hops even without in-flight refueling. Since it can
    get lonely out there, the aircraft has basic EW-gear (stealth, jammers and
    IR cloaking) and passive sensors (a thermograph (nominal range 4 miles) and
    LLTVs) in addition to the more conventional radar (60 miles). A military
    commo/nav suite completes the list of features.
        The aircraft is a TL08 vehicle [Mar. 96 errata sheet].
    
    Structure:  20,000 cf expensive medium body (HT 7,500), max. load 400 tons,
        very good streamlining, sealed body, ten retractable wheels (DR 2, HT
        125/250), STOL wings (HT 3,750).
    Propulsion:  Four 55,000-pound VB turbojets in 335 cf underwing engine pods
        (DR 8, HT 300) with two 3,000-gallon wing tanks (fire on 11), a 16,000
        gallon fuselage tank (DR 5, HT 1,200, fire on 11) for ten hours and a
        refueling probe.
    Power:  2,200 KW from the engines. Excess power 2,180 KW.
    Accomodations:  Five roomy and 240 cramped seats, few windows.
    Crew Requirements:  Pilot, co-pilot, navigator, ECM operator and cargo
        master.
    Armor:  120 points advanced armor, F4/15 B4/15 R4/15 L4/15 T4/15 U4/15
        RW4/15 LW4/15.
    Cargo:  5,000 cf (and 1,217.2 cf access space).
    Accessories:  Forty dischargers (in the pods), compact fire extinguishers,
        basic IR cloaking, laser sensors, 245*10.3h limited lifesystem, radar
        locator, medium deceptive and area jammers (jam rating 8, DR 3, HT 10,
        electronics), partial stealth, medium thermograph (scan 18, DR 3, HT 4,

        following radar, two lasercoms. Programs: Database (748 GB maps and
        recognition guides), datalink, sensor operation (C4, skill 15 or +4),
        tactical vehicle operation (C4, skill 14).
