Tiltrotor Transport Aircraft v1.0 (TL 08)

        This military aircraft fills the roles currently held by large choppers
    like the V-22 Osprey, MH-53H Super Jolly or Mi-17 Hip. It carries people
    over, into or out of hostile places.
        With a tiltrotor system it can hover in the air, but in fixed-wing mode
    it gets the range and speed of prop-driven planes (depending on the chosen
    flight modes, a radius of 1,000 miles is probable). The cargo bay holds 30
    men (a platoon) or equivalent cargo. To cover insertions or extractions,
    two miniguns (crit|cr|15d+15(2)|20|16|2,250|7,500|40|1,000) stick out of
    the doors. With thermographs (20 miles nominal range), radars (40 miles)
    and ALLTVs the tiltrotor would make a decent recon platform. The stealth
    systems are state-of-the-art radar, IR and sound camouflage.
        The aircraft is a TL08 vehicle [Mar. 96 errata sheet].
    
    Structure:  2,000 cf standard medium body (HT 1,500), max. load 40 tons,
        very good streamlining, seal, six retractable wheels (DR 2, HT 42/84),
        wings (HT 750) and rotary wings (HT 375), advanced controls.
    Propulsion:  8 MW tiltrotor powertrain in two 65 cf pods (DR 25, HT 100).
    Power:  Two 4,020 KW hydrogen combustion engines in the pods. 1,600 gallons
        hydrogen (self-sealing, DR 5, HT 250, fire on 10) for 4h 58min and a
        refueling probe. Excess power 20 KW.
    Accomodations:  Four normal and 30 cramped seats, few windows.
    Crew Requirements:  Pilot, co-pilot and two door gunners.
    Armor:  450 points expensive armor, F6/50 B6/50 R6/50 L6/50 T6/50 U6/50
        RW6/50 LW6/50 RO6/50.
    Cargo:  None, but 159 cf access space could be used.
    Accessories:  Twelve dischargers (in the pods), compact fire extinguisher,
        improved IR cloaking, laser sensors, 34*12 hours limited lifesystem,
        radar locator, improved sound baffling, radical stealth, two extreme-
        range thermographs (scan 22, DR 3, HT 20, electronics), two medium
        radars with rangefinder (scan 22, DR 3, HT 10, electronics), two ALLTVs
        (+5, DR 3, HT 4, electronics), four HUDWACs with virtual panorama,
        cargo ramp, three microframes (C4, DR 3, HT 12, electronics), dual
        controls, two INS (DR 3, HT 6, electronics), two GPS, three secure
        long-distance radios (DR 3, HT 4, electronics), three IFF, two terrain-
        following radar, two lasercoms, winch (DR 5, HT 15, equipment).
        Programs: Database (26.93 GB maps), datalink, sensor operation (C4,
        skill 15 or +4), tactical vehicle operation (skill 14).
    Weaponry:  Two 15mm miniguns (DR 5, HT 25) with 1,000 APS rounds each in
        door mounts and two hardpoints.
    
    Statistics:  Cost $7,200,000, design mass 25 tons, maximum payload 15 tons,
        max. hardpoint load 15 tons, current payload 7 tons, loaded mass 32
        tons, size modifier +6, radar signature -1, IR signature +3, acoustic
