Post-Holocaust Courier Van. (TL 7) designed by John Aegard This vehicle is a heavily-customized and home-built version of a TL7 cargo truck. Though not designed to withstand a completely hostile environment, it is more than capable of fending off the ill-armed rabble of the post- apocalypse. The Courier is designed to accomodate a specific role: that of a light cargo carrier or Important Personnel Transport. It is capable of off-road travel, is armoured to withstand most small-arms (rifle-calibre) fire, and mounts a ram plate for running barricades. Armament is light, a pair of 7.62 M60 general-purpose machine-guns, pintle-mounted and gunshielded on a rail surrounding the roof of the van. Only the gunners' head and shoulders are exposed to the outside fire; and these are protected by the gunshields. Vehicular fire extinguishers are also mounted in addition to an alarm system and both local and long-range AM transcievers. With its tanks full of gasoline, the Courier has a range of over 1000 miles. Filled with the more common alcohol, it can make more than 500 miles between fueling stops. Many vehicles of this type exist across the highways and plains of the shattered North America. This is a specific example, but it is fairly representative of the courier vehicles tracking the feudal wastelands of the U.S. and Canada. Structure: 750 cf heavy chassis. Maximum load 30 000 lbs.
