Budget Scout Car v0.4 (TL 08) This cheap military vehicle was build for the needs of 3rd world armies more concerned with internal security than real wars. It costs little more than a 'technical' (a pickup with a MG), but it is much more effective. The basic structure is quite standard, with an imported ceramic engine and foam-filled tires. That frame is covered with steel plates between 7 mm and 18 mm against small arms and mines. The driver has a simple IR sensor (0.67 miles nominal range) and light amplification. The scout car is armed with a MG (crit|cr|6d|15|13|1,000|4,500|16|1,000) and small rockets (with HEAT crit|sxp|4d*2(10)|20|6|n/a|1 mi.|3*1/30|3+6). Other notable gadgets are siren and flashlights for MP use, smoke dischargers, a GPS, two radios and a tow hook. The car is a TL08 vehicle [July 96 errata sheet]. Structure: 200 cf cheap medium body (HT 375), max. load 4 tons, 30 degree front slope, four puncture-resistant wheels (DR 4, HT 24/47) with off- road suspension. Propulsion: 50 KW all-wheel drivetrain. Power: 50 KW ceramic engine (DR 5, HT 15) with 20 gallons diesel (self- sealing, DR 5, HT 12, fire on 6) for 26 hours 40 minutes. Accomodations: Four seats, only. Crew Requirements: Driver and commander/gunner. Armor: 170 points standard armor, F6/75 (sloped) B4/20 R4/20 L4/20 T4/20 U5/40. Cargo: None, but 29.8 cf access space could be used. Accessories: Two smoke dischargers, environmental controls, cheap passive IR (scan 13, DR 3, HT 2, electronics), light amplification, emergency lights and siren, GPS, two multiband radios, tow hook. Weaponry: 5.5mm caseless MG (DR 5, HT 10) with 1,000 rounds on a pintle, triple 40mm rocket launcher (DR 5, HT 6) with HEAT rockets on a pintle and 3 HE & 3 HEAT in the body.
