Spacemobile AFV "Devastator Mk.II" v0.1 (TL 9) Copyright (c) 1996 by "Onno Meyer" The Rio Largo 'Devastator' was designed to carry spacemobile troops on alien worlds. After leaving the dropships, the ground force is on its own. That is the reason for the endurance of 48 hours (for 2,880 miles @ 4 mpg). The vehicle can operate on most worlds up to 1.5 G. Weapons are a C-PAWS (crit|imp|6d*30|25|20|3 mi.|6 mi.|3|50 shots @20 KWh) and a 80mm EM mortar (crit|*|*|25|15|n/a|4 mi.|1|80 shots @ 0.2 KWh). The engine can't power all the electronics, up to 9.1 KWh are drained per hour. That is no problem since most operations include frequent stops with a running engine. The sensor suite consists of a thermograph (18 miles), a ladar (14 miles), a multiscanner (5 miles), a sound detector and an ALLTV. The AFV is build with TL9 technology [Dec. 93 errata sheet]. Structure: 1,000 cf expensive XH body (HT 1,800), max. load 45 tons, sealed body, two tracks (DR 60, HT 900 each) with improved suspension, 20-cf full-traverse pop miniturret (DR 150, HT 50). Propulsion: 1,000 KW tracked drivetrain. Power Plant: 1,000 KW MHD turbine (DR 5, HT 30) with 720 gallons hydrox (self-sealing, DR 5, HT 150, fire on 10) for 48 hours and a 1,000 KWh rechargeable power cell (DR 5, HT 6). Accomodations: Two standard seats and ten cramped seats, no windows. Crew Requirements: Driver and commander/gunner, plus ten troopers. Armor: 2,500 points expensive laminate armor, F6/1,000L B6/300L R6/300L L6/300L T6/300L U6/300L and two DR200 tread skirts. Weaponry: An autostabilized very light C-PAWS (DR 5, HT 20) and a EM mortar (DR 5, HT 20) with 40 OH HEAT & 40 SICM in the pop turret. Accessories: In the body - Crash webs, three dischargers with 40 reloads, compact fire extinguisher, improved IR cloaking, laser sensors, 12*48h limited lifesystem, radiation shielding, basic sound baffling, partial stealth, long-range thermograph (scan 22, DR 3, HT 10, electronics), short-range ladar with rangefinder (scan 20, DR 3, HT 4, electronics), medium multiscanner (scan 16, DR 3, HT 6, electronics), medium sound detector (scan 20, DR 3, HT 10, electronics), ALLTV (+6), virtual panorama, HUDWAC with pupil scanner, mini-airlock, cargo ramp, optical mini computer (C4, DR 3, HT 4, electronics), galley (two units), two GPS, secure multi-band radio, secure long-distance radio (DR 3, HT 4, electronics), IFF, laser communicator, winch (DR 5, HT 16, equipment), tow hook. In the turret - Automatic laser designator (DR 3, HT 3, electronics), optical mini TC (C4, DR 3, HT 3, electronics). Programs: Database (33 GB recognition guide), datalink, sensor operation (C4, skill 16 or +5), gunner (skill 13 or +3, C-PAWS), tactical vehicle operation (skill 14), targeting (C4, +6, C-PAWS). Cargo: 100 cf (and 52 cf access space). Statistics: Cost $2,000,000, design mass 25 tons, max. payload 20 tons, max. cargo 4.5 tons, current load 5 tons, loaded mass 30 tons, size modifier +4, radar signature -1, IR signature -1, acoustic signature +1. Ground Performance: Speed factor 20, top speed 60 mph, acceleration 4.5 mph/s, deceleration 20 mph/s, MR 0.25, SR 9. Water Performance: The AFV can't float, but it can operate at depths up to 120 yards - enough for most rivers or lakes. Air Performance: None.
