Fisher" To: Gurpsnet-files@IO.COM Subject: 21CLW "Warrior" Battlesuit Improved Individual Combat Survivability Battlesuit, 21st Century Land Warrior. (IICSB, 21CLW). TL8 Battlesuit. Simply called "Warrior" by its propnents, and "The Walking Coffin" by its political oppnents, this battlesuit is seen by some as the ultimate answer to the 21st century Land Warrior (21CLW) doctrine the U.S. military envisioned in the early 1990's. This includes substantial improvements in survivability, lethality, command and control, and mobility. Though not capable of fighting armor or aircraft any better than light infantry, or able perform missions that light infantry could perform better (sneaking around, going in houses, etc.), it is designed to allow frontline, heavily engaged infantry to fight harder, smarter, and enjoy some improved chance of survivability. This system has much greater utility when used in a MOUT (Military Operations in Urbanized Terrain) with support of light infantry. Alone, without light infantry or armor, it is probably dogmeat. In paramilitary situations, or peace-keeping, it fairs substantially better. Psychologically, it is very intimidating, and domestic riots are usually over as soon as the Warriors show up. It features greatly improved survivability against smallarms, and in an NBC situation. Mobility is comparable to light infantry, but more sustainable, since the suit has about 24 hours of fuel and provisions. A maintenance check is required about every 35 hours. The chemsniffer allows it to to be used in EOD situations (such as crossing minefields). Engineering with the suit is also easier (with appropriate gear it can dig 3.75 cubic yards in normal soil in one hour! 7.5 cubic yards an hour in sand!). It can Shove and Knock Over (B89) about 7,200 lbs., and punch through steel walls, rip apart steel cables, etc. (B125). The thermograph can see through thin walls, and the 20X Power LLTV, imaging radar, laser designator, and laser spot tracker can all be used to put guided weapons right in the "pickle barrel." It can also change camouflage or color schemes on demand. Hi-Vis Orange when waiting to rescued, Urban camo for MOUT, Black for night, etc. Offensive systems are held, or mounted on the three 100 pound hardpoints. This allows extra fuel or batteries, missile systems, reloads, etc. The Battlesuit is a TL8 vehicle, using Vehicles 2/e, Mecha, and UT. Subassemblies and Body features: Two manipulator arms, two legs, and a limited rotation turret. Propulsion: 3 KW two-legged drivetrain in legs (Lleg/Rleg: DR5, 9HP each).
