Defense Management Station v0.1 (TL 08) Copyright (c) 1996 by Onno Meyer This is the hub of early military space activity. Fighter base, early warning station, orbital artillery, supply base - the DMS is all in one. The most vital components are sensors (30-mile thermographs, 450-mile ladars, 6-mile MADs, 1,350-mile radars, ALLTVs and recon cameras) and the communications suite, operated by dozens of specialists. The DMS houses six orbital fighters and two assault dropships. For missile defense, it has 18 laser clusters (ver|imp|10d|10|20|1.5 mi.|3 mi.|4*4|1 KWh). Against ships or ICBMs it has bigger lasers (ver|imp|6d*15|13|20|7 mi.|15 mi.|4|40) and missiles (OH|20|pxp|6d*200[20d]|1,600|3,200|15 sec.|0|1/4|20@). For orbital bombardment and support, the DMS has hyper-velocity kinetic kill missiles (SALH|18|cr|6d*30(3)|40|4,500|5 sec.|0|1/4|300@) that work just as good from orbit. Nevertheless, the defense of the station depends on threats - the owner would take the loss of that much capability as serious as a nuclear strike. The station is a TL08 vehicle [Mar. 96 errata sheet] with the chemical rocket from Robots and the large airlock from Space.
