Assault Dropship v1.0 (TL 08) Copyright (c) 1995 by Onno Meyer As early as TL08, spacemobile assaults might have their justification. One point in their favor is the quick response time, another is the ability to 'step over' intervening obstacles (wether those are SAM belts or entire neutral nations whose borders you can't violate). This ship has miniguns (ver|imp|5d|5|14|1,000|2 mi.|100|5,000|0.1 KWh), missile launchers (var|18|cr|6d*30(3)|40|4,500|5 sec.|0|1/4|2*9), chaff and flare dischargers and a jammer for self-defense. Sensors are thermographs (20 miles nominal range), radars (40 miles) and ALLTVs. Note that the fuel is only sufficient to go _either_ up or down - better take the fuel dump intact or plan for a long stay. The dropship uses TL08 technology [Dec. 93 errata sheet] with the TL08 chemical rocket from GURPS Robots. I realize the drives break the laws of current science, but this is SF :-) Structure: 8,000 cf advanced light body (HT 2,500), maximum load 100 tons, excellent streamlining, seal, four retractable skids (DR 20L, HT 209), waverider wings (HT 1,250), vertol lift and advanced controls. Propulsion: Triple 100t chemical rocket (DR 5, HT 125) with 20,000 gallons fuel (DR 5, HT 1,500, fire on 11) for 240 seconds at full power. Power: 1,250 KWh rechargeable power cell (DR 5, HT 12), radar uses 20 KW. Accomodations: Two normal and 30 cramped seats, no windows. Crew Requirements: Pilot and copilot/gunner, 30 troopers.
