STL Fighter v1.0 (TL 10) Copyright (c) 1995 by Onno Meyer This fighter spacecraft has no quarters or long endurance - the mass is better used for weaponry. As a secondary role, it is used to carry boarding parties once a ship has surrendered (nobody would take a carrier in close). The main weapon of the fighter are twenty nuclear ship-killer missiles (prog|24|pxp|6d*4,000|400|4,000|1 min.|+2|20|20), the backup is a railgun (ver|cr|6d*50(3)|3|16|3 mi.|10 mi.|1|500|5 KWh), point defense are miniguns (ver|cr|6d*3(3)|4|16|1 mi.|4.5 mi.|60|11,500|0.2 KWh). Sensors are 120-mile thermographs, 90-mile ladars, 24-mile MAD, 720-mile radars and cameras. The armor is concentrated on the sloped front, mostly to deflect highspeed dust or chaff (it wouldn't help against big inertial penetrators). While the ship is a TL10 vehicle [Dec. 93 errata sheet] with parts from Space, many TL9+ technologies are assumed to be unavailable. Structure: 10,000 cf advanced medium body (HT 4,500), max. load N/A, 60 degree front slope, sealed body, vertol lift and advanced controls. Two 25 cf full-traverse miniturrets (DR 500A). Propulsion: Twin 400t fusion rockets (DR 5, HT 600) with 20,000 gallons water (self-sealing, DR 5, HT 1,500) for 44 minutes. Power: 1 MW fusion plant (DR 5, HT 20) and a 8 MWh rechargeable power cell (DR 5, HT 30). Excess power 925 KW. Accomodations: 30 seats, no windows.
