Launch v1.0 (TL 10) Copyright 1996 by Onno Meyer This small spacecraft was build for private, non-atmospheric ships. It allows the users to bypass the hassle and delay of transfer stations and commercial shuttles. The launch was kept compact with just eight passenger seats for stowage on small craft. Sensors are 8-mile thermographs, 80-mile radars and ALLTVs. The lifesupport is rated for 12 hours at full load, but a single person could live on the launch for five days. The performance gets marginal on two-G worlds. The launch is a TL 10 vehicle [Mar. 96 errata sheet] with power plant from Robots. Structure: 1,000 cf standard medium body (HT 900), maximum load 20 tons, superior streamlining, sealed body, three retractable wheels (DR 2, HT 50/100), two wings (HT 450) and 2D vectored thrust. Propulsion: Twin 10-ton fusion rockets (DR 5, HT 50) with a 510 gallons water (DR 5, HT 125) for 45 minutes and a refueling probe. Power: 25 KW cheap nuclear power unit (DR 5, HT 8), excess power 20 KW. Accomodations: Ten normal seats, no significant windows. Crew Requirements: Pilot, usually with a co-pilot. Armor: 480 points advanced armor, F6/60 B6/60 R6/60 L6/60 T6/60 U6/60 RW6/60 LW6/60. Cargo: 100 cf (and 117 cf access space). Accessories: High-security alarm, compact fire extinguisher, 10*12h limited lifesystem, rad shielding, two short-range thermographs (scan 20, DR 3, HT 2, electronics), two short-range radars (scan 24, DR 3, HT 10, electronics), two ALLTVs (+7), mini-airlock, four opt. minicomps (C5, DR 3, HT 4, electronics), dual controls, galley, INS (DR 3, HT 6, electronics), two interface jacks, two secure tactical radios, two transponders, two EM coms. Programs: Computer navigation, database (16.8 GB maps), datalink, sensor operation (C5, skill 18 or +7), routine vehicle operation (C5, skill 17). Statistics: Cost $4,000,000, design mass 8 tons, max. payload 12 tons, max. cargo 2 tons, current load 2 tons, loaded mass 10 tons, size modifier +5, radar signature +6, IR signature +13, acoustic signature +6 (+8 on the ground). Ground Performance: Speed factor 26, top speed 325 mph (reduced to stall speed), acceleration 12.5 mph/s, deceleration 10 mph/s, MR 0.25, SR 4. Water Performance: None. Air Performance: Speed factor 120, stall speed 15 mph, top speed 1,500 mph, accleration 25 mph/s, decleration 10 mph/s, MR 8.25, SR 6, ceiling unlimited.
