Harbor Galley (TL 2) Copyright 1996 by Tracy Ratcliff (tratclif@bright.net) This ship is translated from Sea Steeds and Wave Riders by David Sering (Judges's Guild, 1978), the first roleplaying supplement to cover ships. The harbor galley is a small oared warship apparently based on an old reconstruction of a penteconter (For a more up-to-date interpretation, see Greece p.107). Crammed into its hull are 48 slave oarsmen. The ship is fully decked, and normally carries eight marines in addition to the five- man crew. Vehicles first edition creates oared ships with unrealisticly high speeds. A ship like this would probably have an acual top speed of about 8 mph.
