Longship This is an average-sized longship, used as a combat ship from Viking to early medieval times. The longship had no installed seats. The oarsmen sat on their seachests, which were lashed to the deck. I've allowed 300 lbs per crewman for man, chest, and equipment. This design is a well-built oak ship, which could serve a wealthy owner for generations. A cheaper and lighter version would have much of the hull made of pine or fir, and thus as few as 20 points total of armor.
