TL8/9 Alliance of the Dolphin Naval Patrol Hydrofoil Sedizan class Matador Copyright 1995 by David Greenbaum This vessel was designed to provide an all-purpose patrol and war fighting vessel on a world covered 90% by water. Its great size, large armament suite and top of the line electronics equipment combine to create a potent vessel with great ASuW capability. Unfortunately, its lack of active sonar equipment, as well as its lack of torpedo armament turned this swift vessel into a toothless gazelle when fighting against submerged foes, with her only weapon, speed. The hull is overloaded with superstructure and turrets. Basically, this vessel subscribes to major Soviet naval doctrine, with its purpose, when properly employed, being sea-denial. The ten ships of this class were constructed under contract provided by the 2951 Naval Expansion Act of the Alliance of the Dolphin. In commission for less than 10 years, the remaining vessels quickly decommissioned by 2960 and were sold to mercenaries and smaller city-states, the design declared a failure for its lack of ASW equipment. This design takes into account a full crew but with nothing loaded in the cargo bay.
