Memorize Spell Mental/Very Hard this allows the player to memorize a spell from a grimoire, use the level of the spell to determine the difficulty of memorizing it, taking one hour per attempt to memorize that particular spell. Spells then are one-shot as in AD&D and also require no roll to cast. Spells that target require no roll to hit, though a dodge roll or resistance roll is appropriate for the target. Use the magery skill bonus as a bonus to this skill.... or make magery a 30-point advantage required to cast spells. The latter is more appropriate to the AD&D style of magic. I think the point would be to make the magic system to closely resemble the AD&D thought processes on magic, which as you can see is fairly easy with GURPS. The damage from the spells would need to be modified, and the other affects would necessarily have to be written in GURPSpeak. and don't forget to convert the timing of spells... =)
