L'Acadamie de Sorceries L'Acadamie de Sorceries is the most prestigious magical institute in the world. Many of the most powerful wizards from the past several centuries have been students of L'Acadamie de Sorceries, and there are even Magi Maracarans on the faculty at this time. This history of educating wizards has given the circle an amazing knowledge of spells, and in fact this circle has even developed many of the common spells in use today. Alchemists League The Alchemists League is a very powerful guild. Having interests and needs similar to L'Acadamie de Sorceries, these two institutions are strongly allied. The Alchemists League is also closely aligned with Tiedeman, the God of Healing. The Alchemists League has made it an important point to supply Temples of Tiedeman with potions of healing. In fact, this class of potions is the only non-secret potion which the members of the League can make. Almost anyone who wishes to do so may learn the recipes to make several simple healing poltices and potions. Although these recipes do allow the practitioner to make simple potions, there are not enough to teach the unititated to practice true Alchemy Warriors Guild The Iron Arm Guild has guildhalls in every town which boasts a garrison of guards. Some of these guildhalls are no more than a sometimes rented room at the inn, but most are very respectable. The largest towns and cities have training facilities, inns and taverns devoted just to the Iron Arm Guild. The Iron Arm Guild is powerful on a local level, but not particularly powerful on a nationwide level. This is due to the fact that the guild is mostly just a meeting place for warriors, and a clearing house for jobs. The Iron Arm Guild is usually attached to the local militia, and all members can be called to fight for the defense of the town in an emergency. Anyone may become a member of the Iron Arm Guild, as long as they pay dues. There tend to be few female members, but warrior women are a proud part of the guild. Status within the guild is based on strength, abilities with weapons, and sheer likability. Members of the Iron Arm Guild tend to react well to other members, as long as the others member does not have a bad reputation. Merchant Guilds, Craft Guilds There are as many different merchant and craft guilds as there are crafts and mercantile products. These guilds use the usual apprentice procedure, and parents usually teach their own children. These guilds insure that all members are taught their trade as well as possible. Many guilds have trade secrets which they feel are their own domain, but these secrets are often known by outsiders. All members must pay dues, usually just enough to pay upkeep on the chapterhouses, and to build a cushion in case of disaster. Gods and Religions Onegod-The One God, God of All Basically the Christian god, as portrayed by Steffan O'sullivan in Roleplayer #24. Grants spells through Saints. State religion of Labhartain. Papincolae-Goddess of Fertility, Mother of all Children, The Loving One. Growing religion that espouses the love and nurturing of children. Responsible for romantic love. Not particularly wealthy or influential, but mostly because they are to busy to bother with politics. Tribolone-God of the Harvest, The Beast's God. Hard working farmer types, who care for nature, animals and people. Not powerful, per se, but do tend to control lots of food supplies. Tiedeman-The God of Healing, The Many-Faced God. An intensely individual god, all worshippers see it differently. Clerics of this religion are dedicated to saving lives, and will not take anothers life. Fairly wealthy church, since they charge those who can afford it for their services. Symbol is a many leafed plant like aloe. Gregorson-God of War Gregorson was once a nobles son, but he was elevated to godhood. Clerics and priests preach the good, honorable fight. Their healing magic only works on wounds gained in honorable battle. It has been known for Gregorson to support both sides of a battle. SwishaSwishaSlippa-The Great Sea Serpent Sailors and those who work the sea pray to Swisha, and Swisha protects them from drowning and shark attacks (usually). Menecimen-God of Law and Neutrality Menecimen was an honorable man elevated to godhood. His followers preach neutrality and teach people not to judge one another. Ironic isn't it that they are often called upon as arbitrators and judges due to these teachings? Fulcindare-The God of Metalworking Miners blacksmiths and armourers worship this hard god, in the hope of improving their craft. All followers are branded with a small metal hammer, which becomes their holy symbol. Very weak god, but followers are very loyal. Insmae-God of Deformed and Crippled, The Beggars God Unable to communicate, recently resurrected from a dead religion. Shansmare-God of Travelers and Orphans Dying god, no longer able to speak, but once was powerful. Supports an orphanage in Bramhill. Minor Gods Many people have their own gods, and people from other lands sometimes bring their own gods with them. These foreign gods tend to be weak since they are far from their belief base.
