The Kingdom of Bramhillian The Kingdom of Bramhillian is located on the western end of the Island of Durrin. Bramhill is known for it's production of scented woods and spices, as well as beautiful pearls and precious gems, for its support of two non human races within its border, and as an excellent port of call for traders. The Maracaran Jungle is the most dominant feature of the Kingdom of Bramhillian. The Jungle produces many of the spices and scented woods which Bramhillian is famous for, as well as a number of birds, animals, and exotic creatures. Of course, the Maracaran Maracarans who live in the jungle allow only limited amounts of these things to be harvested at one time. This is just as well with King Gillian, since controlled harvest keeps the price of these products high. Of course, the Jungle also produces Slasanza, to the detriment of the people living nearby, or wishing to travel along the Steinly River, which flows through the Jungle. The capital of Bramhillian is located on the coast at the mouth of the Steinly river, in the central province. The city of Bramhillian is a major trading capitol, since river traffic from the Maracaran jungle and the Western range flows to the ocean here. In addition, it is the best natural port on the western edge of Durrin, which means that many ships traveling between the continents stop here to resupply. King Gillian and his family are most often at court here, although they do often travel upriver to their ancestral home at the head of one of Steinly's tributaries. The Northern Province of Bramhillian grows a lot of rice and has a number of small harbors. The fishing boats which use these harbors are often oystermen who dive on the offshore reefs to collect pearls. A number of small rivers and lakes in the northern province support populations of Drohains, herbivorous water creatures much like the Manatee. The coastal province of Bramhillian is the poorest of the provinces. Although the seas are very bountiful, there are few natural harbors, and those which do exist cannot protect ships during the Monsoon season. Villages along the sea edge are usually small terraced strongholds built to survive the storms. People from this province are often excellent carvers and artisans, since they can do little outside work during the Monsoons. These skills serve as an additional source of income, which the villagers use to supplement their food supplies. The Kingdom of Tashnais The Kingdom of Tashnais is known for three things. First, as a trading center, between north and south. Second, as a producer of well trained horses and elephants. Third, The Kingdom of Tashnais is known to be the home of L'Acadamie de Sorceries. The magic academy accepts students from all over the world, and produces some of the best enchantments known. The entrance requirements are quite stiff, but once a member, an unbelievable number of spells become available. The Tashnain people tend to be gentle and kind, and are often thought of as easy touches for those inclined to take advantage of others. However, they are very hard workers and are rarely taken advantage of in a bargain. They have a strong work ethic, and are hard workers. The city of Tashnais is located above the estuaries of the Timnais river. The capitol of Tashnais is presently being rebuilt, after massive storms flooded much of the city. King Visnais only child, Queen Snowden, came to power when her father died fighting the flodds. Queen Snowden is doing her best to built a capitol worthy of the first female ruler of Tashnais. With the help of advisors from L'Academie de Sorceries, she has been doing an excellent job. The majority of stopover trading between north and south occurs through the city of Rosehill, on the eastern coast. This sea town is partially protected by the Rose mountains, and has rarely known serious storms. Rosehill is not only a pleasing place to rest before venturing back onto the high seas, but it is also a very profitable stop. Rosehill has a number of important industries, including mining in the Rose mountains, fishing and pearl diving off the coast, as well as boasting one of the finest Zoological Expositions open to the public! Rosehill is indeed a travelers paradise. The Western Province of Tashnais, to the west of the Timnais river, is mostly small farming communities, with cottage industries such as cloth making and dyeing common. This area is fairly well settled, and the borders are well established. The presence of the nearby Illhillians keep large communities from growing there, but in reality, the Illhillians rarely cause problems. With the exception of Rosehill, the Eastern Province of Tashnais is much less populated. Much of the coast is dotted with fishing communities, but the internal tropical savanna contains few villages. This area is controlled by the Thonnish nomads, a farily peaceable people normally, the Thonnish are horrifying warriors when defending their homeland. The Kingdom of Labhartain The Kingdom of Labhartain has the largest population on the island, although it has little more habitable land than either of the other human kingdoms. Much of the western tropical Savannah is inhabited only by nomads and great herds, but the rest of the kingdom is fairly well populated. Labhartain is known for the production of truly excellent wine, and for the almost universal belief in Onegod. This belief in Onegod manifests itself in a number of ways. The most obvious to the traveler is that no-one conducts business on Godday, and no-one ever asks for nor accepts payment for any service on that day. Godday is normally set aside for quiet contemplation and discussion. People either fast or eat simple meals. The only work done on this weekly holy day is what is necessary to keep servants and self healthy. The capital of Labhartain is centrally located, just above the smallest tributary of the Flavivarius. The major religious center for Onegod worship, Frisplace, is located at the head of Flavivarius, in the foothills of the central range. Flavivarius is therefor the major economic artery of Labhartain. Much of the wine, grains, and animal products produced in Labhartain flow up and down the Flavivarius, as does much of the financial wealth of the Kingdom. The Western Province of Labhartain is the major wine producing region on Durrin. Most vineyards are small parts of family farms, but there are several large valleys controlled by single families. These vineyard valleys often employ large numbers of family members, as well as numerous tenants, whose sole purpose is wine making. There are also a number of wine making valleys in the Ironrocks range which are inhabited by citizens of Labhartain. The people have a special treaty with the Ironrocks which allows them to live and work within the Ironrock Mountains, in exchange for half of the wine they produce. The central province of Labhartain is mostly populated by small farming communities. There are numerous small forests and lakes throughout this region, so there are a wide variety of different environments in this province. The Savannaland Province, in the west, is mostly tropical savanna, and there are few people living there. However, the population of the Central Province is slowly spreading into Savannaland.
