New Disadvantage Melancholia -15 points You are subject to day-long fits of melancholy and depression. Every day, make a Will roll. If it fails (and a roll of 14 or above always does), you will spend an entire day in this severe depression. You won't try to do anything "worthwhile," because it all seems pointless to you. New Spell Babble Regular; Resisted by IQ Causes the subject to babble whenever he tries to talk. He cannot be understood by anybody, no matter what language he tries to speak, unless mental communication is used. Duration: 1 hour. Cost: 3 to cast; 3 to maintain Prerequisite: Magery, Foolishness. Item: Any item. Always on; causes the wearer to speak in babbling while he wears the item. Energy cost to create: 500. The Races of Planescape Other available races include Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, Halfling, Half-elf, and, of course, Humans. Bariaur A centaur-like, half-man, half-ram (or ewe, in the case of women). ST+1 (10 points), HT+1 (10 points), Increased ST (lower torso only; 30 points). Wanderlust (-10 points), Infravision (15 points), Acute Hearing +2 (4 points), Bariars have the quirks, Always dresses nicely, Hates giants, and Won't eat meat (-3 points). Males have Strikers (thrust/crushing in close range; 5 points). Total cost is 55 points, or 60 points for a male. Githzerai Mysterious, thin humanoids with odd eyes. -1 ST (-10 points), IQ+1 (10 points), DX+1 (10 points), Infravision (15 points), Magical Tolerance +2 (8 points). Odious Personal Habit: Distant and unfriendly (-5 points), Intolerance: Githyanki (-5 points). Sense of Duty: Other Githzerai (-5 points). 18 points. Tiefling Part human, part something else. Tieflings are the true denizens of the planes. They aren't trusted by most people. ST-1 (-10 points), IQ+1 (10 points). Infravision (15 points). Knack: Darkness (2-hex radius, once per day; 11 points), Temperature Tolerance (10 points); Social Stigma (-10 points). 26 points. The Factions The Athar (The Defiers, the Lost) 6 points "Hey, you berk! If the gods really were alive and cared, do you think you'd be here?" Primary Plane of Influence: The Astral Plane Allies and Enemies: The Believers of the Source are often Allies with the Athar. Eligibility: No priests. Benefits and Restrictions: Curse, Geas, Bless, and clerical spells have no effect on the Athar. Believers of the Source (Godsmen) 2 points "We are all one -- gods, mortals, even fiends came from the same source. Who knows? Maybe next time you'll be larvae." Primary Plane of Influence: The Ethereal Plane. Allies and Enemies: The Bleak Cabal and the Dustmen are philosophical foes. Eligibility: Any. Benefits and Restrictions: Godsmen priests cast spells at -1 (-5 points). They also have a +1 Reaction Bonus to planar beings (2 points). The Bleak Cabal (Bleakers, the Cabal, Madmen) -7 points "Hear the barmies howling in the mazes? If you're hear to learn the secrets of the multiverse, you mights as well save yourself some time and go join 'em, 'cause that's all it means that and nothing else. There's no meaning to it all." Primary Plane of Influence: Pandemonium. Allies and Enemies: Allies include the Doomguard, Dustmen, Revolutionary League, and Xaositects. The Fraternity of Order, Harmonium, and Mercykillers have difficulty with the Bleakers. Eligibility: Any. Benefits and Restrictions: Immune to the Madness, Drunkeness, Mindlessness, and Daze (8 points). All Cabal members have the disadvantage of Melancholia (-15 points). The Doomguard 3 points "Everything decays, we're just here to help it along." Primary Plane of Influence: The negative quasiplanes: Ash, Vacuum, Salt, and Dust. Allies and Enemies: The Doomguard are allies to the Bleak Cabal and the Dustmen. They are rejected by the Fraternity of Order and the Harmonium. Eligibility: Any, except Priests with healing abilities. Benefits and Restrictions: All Doomguard are trained with the sword, and receive Broadsword at DX+2 (8 points). However, they also have Magic Resistance +5 (healing spells only) (-5 points). The Dustmen (The Dead) 3 points "Nobody's alive. Everyone is dead. All these worlds all these universes are just shadows of another existence." Primary Plane of Influence: Negative Energy Plane Allies and Enemies: Allies include the Bleak Cabal, and the Doomguard. They have opposition from the Sign of One, and the Society of Sensation. Eligibility: Any. Benefits and Restrictions: Dead Truce (5 points), Curse, Geas, Bless, and clerical spells have no effect on the Athar. All Dustmen must make a HT roll to be successfully Resurrected (-2 points). The Fated (Takers, the Heartless) 0 points "The multiverse belongs to those who can hold it. Everyone makes his own fate, and there's no one else to blame for it." Primary Plane of Influence: Ysgard. Allies and Enemies: The Free League are often allies, the Harmonium are often opposed to the Takers. Eligibility: Any. Benefits and Restrictions: The Fated may have up to 4x age in skills, rather than the normal 2x age. They will never accept any form of charity. The Fraternity of Order (Guvners) 0 points "The planes are governed by laws. Laws can be learned. Learn the laws and you rule the multiverse. That is our goal." Primary Plane of Influence: Mechanus. Allies and Enemies: Allied to the Mercykillers and the Harmonium. The Xaositects and the Revolutionary League are diametrically opposed. Eligibility: Any. Benefits and Restrictions: They have the Knack of Gift of Letters, for all languages (10 points), and the Honesty disadvantage (-10 points). It is important to note that most Guvners are Literate. The Free League (Indeps) 8 points "Sod off! I don't need your mumbo-jumbo." Primary Plane of Influence: Outlands. Allies and Enemies: Only the Harmonium opposes the Indeps. Eligibility: Any. Benefits and Restrictions: Strong Will +2 (8 points). They do not, however, have any representation in Sigil. The Harmonium (Hardheads) 11 points "Do it our way or no way. Understand that, Berk?" Primary Plane of Influence: Arcadia. Allies and Enemies: Allied to the Guvners and the Mercykillers. The Indeps, Xaositects and the Revolutionary League are diametrically opposed. Eligibility: Any. Benefits and Restrictions: They have the Charm knack (once per day; 36 points); Sense of Duty to the Harmonium (-15 points), Honesty (-10 points). The Mercykillers (Red Death) -2 points "Justice is absolute and perfect. It is everything." Primary Plane of Influence: Acheron. Allies and Enemies: Allies to the Guvners and the Harmonium. The Signers, Sensates, and Anarchists have problems with Red Death. Eligibility: Any, unless they're criminals. Benefits and Restrictions: All Red Death have Detect Lies at IQ+2 (8 points). They all have an Obsession with justice (-10 points), and will never allow a prisoner to escape. The Revolutionary League (Anarchists) -5 points "These universes, these powers, they're corrupt! They're guiding people in the wrong directions, keeping them slaves and prisoners to the powerful. The old beliefs are lies!" Primary Plane of Influence: Carceri. Allies and Enemies: Allied to the Doomguard and the Xaositects. The Harmonium and the Guvnors are diametrically opposed. Eligibility: Any. Benefits and Restrictions: The Anarchists can pose as any other faction without risk of detection. This is considered a 5 point advantage. They have a Vow: to tithe 90% of their money to their cause, and to never own property (-10 points). The Sign of One (Signers) 0 points "Where's the center of the multiverse? Me -- I'm the center of the multiverse." Primary Plane of Influence: The Beastlands. Allies and Enemies: Allied to the Sensate. The Harmonium and the Black Cabal are diametrically opposed. Eligibility: Any. Benefits and Restrictions: Signers can automatically detect illusions on an IQ roll versus the illusionist's spell skill (5 points). They also have a -1 Reputation (-5 points). The Society of Sensation (The Sensates) 5 points "Touch it. Smell it. Taste it. See it. Hit it." Primary Plane of Influence: Arborea. Allies and Enemies: Allied to the Signers. They are opposed to the Doomguard. Eligibility: Any. Benefits and Restrictions: All Sensates have Infravision (15 points), and Curiosity (-10 points). The Transcendant Order (Ciphers) -3 points "By the time you've thought about it, I'll have killed you. That makes it a do or die deal." Primary Plane of Influence: Elysium. Allies and Enemies: Allied to none, only the Harmonium distrusts them. Eligibility: Any. Benefits and Restrictions: Ciphers receive Tactics at IQ+2 (8 points). Ciphers are Impulsive (-10 points), and have the Quirk: Never changes mind. The Xaositects (Chaosmen) 0 points "Beautiful is! Chaos too dim multiverse. Is to notice most the of." Primary Plane of Influence: Limbo. Allies and Enemies: The Chaosmen get along with the Doomguard and the Black Cabal. The Harmonium and the Guvners are opposed to the Xaositects. Eligibility: Any. Benefits and Restrictions: The Xaositects have the Babble knack (see above; 10 points). They have a Vow to never found businesses, raise armies, or organize anything (-10 points). The Outsiders (The Clueless) 0 points "Hey! Is this Waterdeep?" The Outsiders are those from the prime material plane. They have no inherent advantages or disadvantages.
